Ebay has the $10 clone of WIS you seek. The learning curve to navigate the program is steep but once you're on top of it the details of the car are all there.

It's pretty straightforward, just need to unbolt enough stuff to get at the gaskets. You should do both, the oil cooler and coolant gaskets as they both go. I think you also have to remove the thermostat and one of the pulleys/tensioners to get at it so if you have changed those in a while, you might want to grab a new wahler thermostat and the tensioner/pulleys. On the M272, the oil separator at the back of the passenger side and the breather cover also tends to go and allows oil into the intake which eventually requires you to replace the intake so you should replace those two items also while you're back there. You can also search this forum and the W211 forum as it's the same engine in the W211 from 2006-2009.

I recently did one on an S550, along with water pump, thermostat, hose o-rings, oil cooler and oil filter housing gaskets, and radiator. Water pump blew out, radiator had leaking end tanks, and it had a pretty serious oil leak. These cars tend to only leak oil from there unless it's the cam sensor thing, which honestly I haven't seen yet. I preemptively did the repair on my personal vehicle though.

Thermostat, belt, tensioner comes out for accessibility, I also like to remove the fan for space. You need to replace the oil filter housing gasket to the block too, both of mine were completely blown out and flattened, and make sure you pick up another thermostat gasket. The job is actually pretty neat and you get to replace a TON of stuff on the way if you want to.

Allen key gets slotted in to lock the tensioner behind the tensioner pulley to lock it in place to remove the belt and remove the unit. The procedure has pretty much been the same for time immemorial on these cars for the v8 and v6 applications. Don't pay for this job, all the software says this is like a $1500+ job and its just not, it's like an hour if you have a milwaukee cordless ratchet.

Sounds very familiar! Just installed the new water pump, turbo coolant lines, oil cooler gasket, oil filter housing gasket, thermostat & housing...new radiator will go in after cam adjuster replaced. HOWEVER, I am searching now for details on the sensor that is inserted in the oil filter housing!? I am guessing oil temp or pressure sensor...but the main m278 pdf shows a "screw plug" in that sp

Part #80 & 85
ot. Does anyone have part number or details on that oil sensor?

Bumping this thread from last year, as I am back in this engine chasing an oil leak that I suspect came from this oil pressure sender bolt/washer install.

Has anyone done this job? IIRC, I received 3 washers from the dealer along with the valve/bolt...trying to determine if I installed them correctly last time
