60mpg highway, fully loaded

This a 4cyl. diesel electric hybrid right?

Prius uses 56mpg combined

Nice savings... very much like a Toyota Prius!

49 mph average on long distance gives some impression. Reminds me Priuses blocking left lane.

yes, but electric engine doing nothing when you drive. It isnt powerful enough to keep you going. It is good to do up to 20mph on flat for 2min probably. Best to park your car on carpark or crawl in traffic jam and still you have to use very careful your accelerate pedal as diesel engine is happy to kick in at any time

Frankly, I'd be disappointed.
Newer hybrid delivers the same old bluetec does.
Looks to me that new OM654 engine would beat the hybrid with no sweat.
But as you pointed, on highway cruising electric motor and batteries are just dead weight.

true, I am switching to S mode every time I am driving. I hate when you want overtake and in E mode you are waiting ages for reaction

I drive in E mode all the time, but I drove "Maluch" and other underpowered cars long enough to have a habit of passing others depending on preparing the acceleration long before actual passing, not on 2 second jumps.
Than diesel pulls strong on highest gear, where gaser needs to drop 2 gears to pick it up.
How hybrid reacts in such maneuver?

haha maluch, fiat 126p stare poczciwe auto chyba kazdy w pl mial przyjemnosc chociaz raz prowadzic 🙂🙃
Hmm to be honest there is only additional 25 bhp if I remember and you not really can feel it. You have them once you press pedal down hard and you can see on one of the clock when arrow is going all the way up to. I think that's it.
Best benefit coming out from this hybrid is road tax that I am paying. Only £20 a year because hybrid, when for normal e250 you have to pay £180

prius 56mpg heavy city combined, keep it on the freeway doing 70mph and see what it gets. It isnt gonna be that. Even the EPA advertised for that vehicle was heavily weighted to there advantage compared to any other vehicle at the time. They do the same but in negative to diesel cars, part of the trying to get rid of diesel in the US.

Heck a true diesel hybrid could do twice that but not gonna see it, too many parties not happy about it.

American Diesel oil is sold to the country truckers fleet.... they don't want your competition with non-sense: A DIESEL PRIUS.... (VW!)

WWII German U-BOAT - Submarines:
Hybrid Diesel-Electric developed 100 years ago to work at a military grade under water reliably.

In London that's exactly what I witnessed last month... a fleet of 100% electric cabies, all charging for free until the stify is turned around against them... usual pendulum

Maybe in the city, when you have the concept that will allow you to roll between lights on electric power.
As pointed already, at highway cruising the electric motor and big battery is just dead weight.
Europe had lot of "3 liter cars" (78 mpg) even 20 years ago. Have you seen 1 of them in USA?

I wasnt talking about current half A contraption. If you did a true diesel electric, heck even a true diesel hybrid like the prius the diesel equivelant would get atleast twice as good MPG. They have had the ability to do a diesel hybrid for a long time now that could do 100-150mpg and thats not even a plug in hybrid. But it is the US and the current political leaders and there previous counterparts have had a issue with diesel.

Agree about those other vehicles, heck even the diesel ford focus that was available everywhere but here could do what 60+mpg.

Like Calibenz mentioned there are alterior motives to the rules and regs over here. Ahh well.
