4 pot calipers from w213 to w212 E350?

Hi,

I have a w212 E350.
I've been thinking about upgrading my 1 pot front calipers for a long time, obviously.
A strange idea that occurred to me is that 4 pot calipers from w213 might fit my car.

Would this be a bad idea? Any comments would be appreciated.

the 213's have bigger wheels across the board, and its quite likely, they also have larger brake rotors. if they have larger rotors, its quite unlikely the 213 calibers would fit on a 212.

You're absolutely right. It'd be way over my budget to get a new rotors and bigger wheels. Thanks,

You might as well use the front brake kit from the W212 E400 which uses the four piston fixed caliper as well and will most likely be a bolt-in upgrade. But it would be a costly retrofit as I'm pretty sure you would need 18 inch wheels to fit them as well.

do the cars with the e400/e500 4-pot brakes have the same ABS controller/pump, and the same master cylinder ?

I would assume so since they likely operante with the same oil pressure and logic. Looking at the data card on my E400 there is no special code for the brakes on it. Not sure if the ABS/ESP systems are fine-tuned to calibrate their input based on brake efficiency or if they are a simple feedback-loop function (apply a correction based on the "size" of the error). Application notes on he parts list might be helpful on that regard.

My 2015 E400 came from the factory with the 344 x 32mm rotors (A0004211512) and the four pistons fixed calipers (A2044215398/A2044215498) which I believe in some markets are only used in the older E550. Brake-wise I really can't complaint. The brakes used on E350 however might be a little on the low side considering that engine only makes about 10% less power and weight difference might be negligible on the twin turbo M276.

I think on the E400 build sheet I have the brakes fall under RPO code 951 = Sport Package USA.
Front rotors are 322mm x 32mm
Dayum if I can even find calipers though but I did see on Rock auto and they show single piston front and rear all versions with sports package and without.

I do know sport comes with drilled rotors - and they are noisy

On the E350 at least, the drilled and undrilled rotors are interchangeable. I suspect the E400 uses the same brakes.
