Maintenance on the wagon

Did some maintenance recently on my 16' S212 wagon with 64K.
-Tensioner, belt and both idler pulleys
-Air and Cabin Filters
-Oil Change

Tensioner and idlers removed

Old vs new. Old ones came off in 2 pieces...

Tensioner and idlers installed

Old with 12K miles vs new

Oil filter housing

Washed

-Tensioner, belt and both idler pulleys - What was the most difficult part of this replacement?

The lower tensioner bolt is kind of hidden. Aside from that, putting on the new belt. There's plenty of room with the airbox removed.

smart maintenance

Good deal
The belt kit is a very satisfying maintenance item. This saves the water pump from leaking prematurely.

Have you checked you camshaft leakers, specially both exhaust towards the outsides?

If you're talking about the timing covers, I got those done at 31K (got the car with 27K and they were already seeping). You can see how clean the driver side cover is in the oil filter housing pic.

No, not the leaky magnesium timing covers, the 4x camshaft sensors on top that create the "oil-in-harness" $8k repairs

overheated cam sensors

> Heat based failure:
For some reasons, the exhaust sides sensors are able to start leaking oil before intakes do. That points to a heat related factor!

I bet you can expect sensors [1; 4; 2; 3] to leak in that order based on heat source and distance from managed cooling oil pump.

Ah yes thanks for the reminder! I inspected these when I resealed the timing cover a few years ago and upon inspecting them this past weekend, they remain bone dry.

Were any of the pullies chirping or was this a prophylactic measure? 64k seems on the low range for this service.

No, no chirping. When I bought the car, I made a list of preventative maintenance items I wanted to address and these were just on that list. I've already knocked out the big ticket items for this motor at this mileage like, trans service and spark plugs. I've also had both engine mounts and the trans mount replaced for piece of mind.

Also replaced the illuminated star. First one lasted a little over 2 years before burning out. *Zips up flame suit*
