Car changes from automatic to manual by itself
Hi
All,
My name is Craig & recently purchased a 2014 E550-4Matic with 15,000 original miles. I've been driving the car for two weeks now & the car while driving switched to manual from automatic on it's own. Can anyone give me feedback on this please?

Best to ask any question about your car in the actual subforum for your model, but to answer your question, if you accidentally press one of the shift paddles on the steering wheel, it goes into temporary manual mode. It will revert back to automatic mode after you drive at constant speed for a few seconds. If that's not it, then probably need to have it checked out. It could also be a bad switch in one of the shift paddles making contact by itself.

It may be the N135 board inside the steering wheel, which is part of N80 Steering Column module .
My case was the N135 board which is for the pedal shift and horn and all switches on steering wheel, one day its DOWN-SHIFT switch goes intermittent bad and activated on its on.
Now, anytime that pedal shift is pressed, tranny has to go into MANUAL mode for a while....hence you think that your tranny went to MANUAL mode on its own.
