Very Interesting but Pricey for some snazzy gage.
Seems you lose somethings but it is not clear.
Do you lose Maintenance counter/warning thingy that tells you when your oil change is due?
Does it still have the trip computer and all its levels? like from start and from reset?

If you guys were car shopping for a W212 and found a vehicle that had one of these aftermarket digital clusters installed would you consider it an upgrade or a downgrade?

The point of my original post was just to see if somebody had actually bought one of these curious things and what their experience might be. i wasnt advocating.
now that guys are just throwing crap at it, more likely that any buyers wont even post.

Hard to tell what I would like more, but definitely I like $900 in the pocket.

Maybe I took your first one out of context.
sorry if so.

That's a fair question to ask. Well, similar to having an aftermarket display unit installed as well . My consideration would be an upgrade though .However, I would have not jumped into that

Would have to find out if the mileage will update on the new dash, I can swap out my trucks dash cluster but have to get the mileage programmed to match what is stored in the ECU. Not sure how MB works. I know its not like old odometers anymore even in say 2014, all stored in the cars brain.
IMHO I think its ugly compared to the stock unit but thats just me. Only reason I would consider it is if it displayed more information and easily assessable menus compared to stock, and a code reader built into the unit so if you got a check engine light or a code you could read it from the dash.
Lots of other things I would spend a grand on though when stock works fine.

I've been weighing this option for a little. Cost aside, just still not sure if I like the look or not. I personally think it looks good, but I also don't think it quite matches the other aspects of the interior of our car. Our cars are starting to look dated inside and this would make that fact more noticeable.
Here's someone who installed this type of instrument cluster in a w204.

My two cents is that digital dashboards have come and go since the 90s... I know the current trend is for cars to only have screens all around (which are actually cheaper to build) but it probably won't last. On top of that, the original dashboard is already a hybrid of LCD display and analog instruments which I particularly like.

"NO NEED CODING, PLUG AND PLAY".
Can you explain this magic "plug and play" ??
The IC display is the hardest security piece to code because of odometer protection. This module acts as CAN Gateway partnered with busy modules. IC has to be coded with individual features of each car.... directly the OPPOSITE OF PLUG 'N PLAY
Before buying double-check the return + refund policies.

When I first looked at it on the Ebay ad, I liked it. I like the modern digital appearance, with all the color. But when reading the details, it sounds like most of the functionality in the center information screen is lost. That is a show stopper for me.
Looking at the MB IP vs the aftermarket IP, I am drawn to the rich, classic look of the MB IP. Any digital IP would have to still capture that rich look, and maintain all functionality.

The colors are very appealing but personally I have an extreme hard time believing the claim of :

MB’s
This to me a great idea but I am 99% sure the execution is poor. Like most aftermarket crap it sounds good but doesn’t work. Had an Apple car unit my CLK and after 6 months I had to remove it. It’s not quality and the software is just so glitchy. Too many malfunctions.

Actual push buttons are much safer, that and switches. Touch screens require you to look at the screen where as much of the push buttons allow you to work via feel once you know the vehicle. Why I like my stock MB radio vs my truck that has a touch screen.

I like to see buttons everywhere on the car . Believe in me , those would not render the things harder to use providing those placed accordingly . I miss Comand knob and buttons around it as well. However, touch screen is a great add-on to me but when you touch on it ,those should provide a haptic sense so that you should be knowing that you have touched something to do something . Engineers would say that we should be using Hey Mercedes feature but that's a topic for another course
Well, back to this topic, would I buy this digital gauge ? No, because it doesn't support some certain features and if anything goes wrong replacing it involves a huge task as well
