You can run over only so many concrete bump stops before one or two (or more) leave a mark. I agree I would not fix it until the whole bumper cover needs refinishing.

OH MY GOSH!!!! That looks so ugly. How can you be seen driving or even riding in a car with a scratch nobody will see or care about? Have you no pride?

Regardless, I know it does hurt when it happens. I remember the first time I pulled too far over a parking lot concrete stop secured in place with rebar that was sticking up a little too high. If I hadn't noticed and just backed up, it probably would have torn the bumper off.
A carbon wrap could blanket it but it's up to you. Honestly, my other car was scraped off just as yours but I have not touched it yet . Well, carbon wrap is my idea for it
Besides, your analogy reminds me tool watches with scratches on the clasps as well

Speak of the devil. I ripped half of my S550 front bumper off just exactly how you explained.
I had to take the whole bumper off for inspecting the damage and found out how easy it was to remove the bumper from the car and to put it back on.
The only damage to it was it ripped thru one plastic screw hole at the left side end where it caught the re-bar. Have been very careful not to put front over them stops since this happened. When it happened, my stomach fell on the floor as it looked very bad but turned out to be really nothing other than a very good learning experience of taking the bumper off.

I went back and pulled the rebar out of the ground. It was loose in the ground, but wouldn't go deeper. When it happened, I actually had to find something to drive forward on to raise the car enough to clear the darned thing.

And you backed out from it with what holding the car up?

I keep a fold-up entrenching tool in the storage compartment in the trunk. It's about 2" thick when folded. I pulled forward then placed the folded tool behind the front tire. As I slowly backed up over the tool, it raised the front enough to clear the rebar sticking up. The rebar was only about ¼" high, but enough to catch the bottom of the bumper. This was on the SL which rides low.
