Clicked 229.3 instead of 229.5 in service menu
I accidentally clicked oil grade 229.3 when resetting my service indicator instead of 229.5, is this an issue? From what I can find the grade only affects the interval at which the car will alert me for the next oil change. Is this the only thing my selection affected, or does it affect engine behaviour? Should I try and reset the service indicator again/take it to my mechanic if I can't, or is it fine? Thanks.

It's fine. You want to change your oil every 3000 to 5000 miles anyway. Just make sure the oil you use is API SP rated.

I know I can reset the service indicator to reverse the last service setting using my scan tool. Not sure if you can do it in the dash menu. Clearly this isn't uncommon if you can reverse the last setting.

Wow, I didn't know you could revert it. I may try that with my scan tool. Thanks for the peace of mind! I use liqui molly 229.5 5w40 every 5000-7000km and reset the indicator when it pops up.

Innova is an OK brand, but it is generic. Generic scanners are a waste of money for Mercedes. Get a Mercedes-specific scanner, such as LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ (check Amazon). Sooner or later, you will want to get a XENTRY set up, along with WIS and EPC. I recommend BenzNinja when you are ready to do that. In addition to the software, he provides remote diagnostics and coding.
