Rain sensing wipers not working

Hey guys, seems that my rain sensing wipers have stopped working on my 2011 E550, wipers still work manually. If I recall correctly, there was a toggle to turn it on or off in the driver assist section of the gauge cluster, can’t find it now. Can anyone confirm the toggle for me to confirm I’m remembering correctly. Also, has anyone run into this before?

The usual issue is caused the loose connections on the sensor module.
It needs to be worked on or exchanged.

Scan it and you will probably get the DTC that the Rain and Light sensor has malfunction.

I do not have selection in the cluster menu. Rain sensing is the two first positions in the control stalk. That is the only switch I have for it.

yes, it's very simple! You can save the diagnostic fee for a nice family dinner.

Choices are...
1-- buy a new sensor module or
2-- take 5mn to resolder existing unit.

Update: I unhooked my battery for a few hours on Friday to reset the modules, now they are working fine. Seems like I got lucky

It will last a while until condition returns.
Simple "Chassis Reboot" is effective therapeutic for these car's unstable electronics, indulge.
Transient fault clearing good too .

Another easy "fix" you could do is to take the upper cover around the camera and rain sensors off and then disconnect / re-connect the wire harnesses. Sometimes (often) wire connections get surface oxidation (corrosion) that messes up with the delicate instruments. Re-connecting them rubs the oxidation and allows good connection again.

My 2015 E400 sedan has the rain sensor DTC B221D49 (Internal electrical fault) as shown by my Launch Elite. I just tried CaliBenzDrivers solder fix last weekend and unfortunately it did not resolve the issue. I am still showing the same error after reinstallation. Light sensor working and showing no codes.

I am curious if anyone here has done an actual calibration with Xentry or their Launch, and if its self explanatory. I looked through the Launch adaptation menu and it doesnt seem intuitive. Id rather spend $77 for a new sensor then try and go the used route and face possible failure soon. I can get my hands on a xentry but would like to at least know its straight forward to calibrate.

Step 7 should say the headlights should come on, not the wipers.

Seems to me that the B38/2 module recalibrates every time the car is turned off and then back on (described in Step 2).

@JettaRed I recall printing the instructions for convenience, I think it was from WIS, because I needed them for the W166 after windshield and rain sensor replacement.

If I find them, I will update the post.

First you have to make sure you buy the right module, they come preloaded based on features on your car. Next, when installing, in Xentry, you go to the coding section and the only thing it asked me for was the type of windshield that was installed which was basically choosing its color/tint. For simple install, there was no calibration procedure, just option selection if that makes sense. Easy peasy
