Rear seat area
Quick question.
Is there anything behind or under the rear seat inside the car on the passenger side that could loosen or break? Been trying to track a thump that happens only on wash board like bumps. The car has steel springs not air..Been like this since I bought the car .
Any ideas will be appreciated

have a visual check for obvious leaks.
What's your current mileage?
What's under rear seat is the saddle-style gas tank with dual-pumps plus dual-floats... fairly quiet. Perhaps something's broken?

Not a thump but more clank sound on my e250 when I got it, turned out was missing the right rear break anti rattle clip. Replaced it when I did the brakes and solved that issue.
Check wheel well plastic, trunk area also like spare tire and tools. Like cali pointed out the shocks too. Check the fenders and what not. Can jack up rear of car and use rubber mallet and hit the tires at various spots and see if you can get the thump from that then start feeling around while ya do it to see if can stop the noise.
GL, remember sounds can transmit and seem like they are coming from other areas on vehicles.

I've replaced the rear shocks and springs..HnR and Bilstein...The suspension is solid all around .Car was from Arizona .not a drop of rust or even surface rust anywhere..Car has only 70,000 ...Mint condition except for this thump...I've done all the work myself and I've checked everything I can see...And it's not a brake rattle..All brakes are new.. Its a thump not a rattle..Sounds like something is actually hitting the floor...And it's done this before I replaced any parts..
It's never gotten any worse..Just a thump that goes with the bumps

All right shocks renewed, then go ahead inspect your prop shaft:
intermediate bearings and both end couplers and tranny mount.
next will be muffler lines and rear axle bushings
There are not soo many things back there.
I almost forgot the economy rear sway bar links that make the whole chassis bounce from side to side.

I have replaced the rear end links with 3/4 energy suspension links..Only thing I haven't checked that you mentioned is the shaft..Any special way to check that? Or just look for play?
