Question [HELP] COMAND screen does not turn on

friend has 2011 E-Class and COMAND screen is black and won't turn on.
radio/audio/volume works fine.
is display unit dead or is it something else?
is there a way to reset COMAND and hopefully screen will work again? TIA!

If everything is working but you just can't see anything on the screen, I would take a gander that the display backlight is broken. Try shining a really bright flashlight on the screen and see if you can make out the text. If so, the backlight is busted. I'm not sure how big of a ***** it is to remove the display from the module and remove the backlight from that particular display.

Might not be too big of a deal...

You don't want to factory reset COMAND. It already restarts with each power cycles. It does benefits from an improved CAN-B... less see what yours says.

Use your scanner to interact with DISPLAY module and collect live faults.
Is a better way than parts-canon then troubleshoot afterwards.

Display is a SUPER HOT MODULE that uses a dedicated fan cooling with a tiny filter.... that gets plugged shut.

++++ @MJ50 WHILE YOU'RE HERE....
CAN YOU PLS HELP THIS FORUM!

A -> HOW TO best deal with bothersome trolls ??

B -> HOW MANY user petition complaints does it take to cut access of sickos ??

C -> HOW ABOUT banned accounts that swap UserID's to resume activities??

Thank you from a bunch of us.

a) just ignore
b) there's no set of numbers, but the more you "report", the higher the likelihood...
c) same as (B), the more you report, the better...
