Brake Pad recommendation from Rockauto

Hi all,

I have a 2015 mercedes E350 4Matic with 77000 miles on it.

Last time I changed my rotor is 2017-18 ish when it was causing a vibration when braking then the dealer changed front two rotors.

Ever since, I did not change my brake rotor. I am planning to change brake pads for all 4 tires and wondering should I also change my rotors as well? If so, do you have any recommendation from rockauto? or any where.

Thanks in advance.

I've been extremely happy with Zimmerman solid rotors and Akebono ceramics, the dust is minimal and I've noticed only a slight decrease in stopping power from the drilled rotors and semi-metallic factory setup

"Do it once, do it right"... (forget new pads over warped rotors!)
Zimmerman rotors + Akebono ceramic pads.
done.

Don't overlook slide pin lubrication (+ ease heavy caliper springs)

I have the Dynamic Friction ceramic pads on my cars. Low to no dust. I don't track my car, so they work great for normal to aggressive driving (when the wife's not around).

Power Stop is also a popular brand.

+1 on Power Stop. I put rotors and pads on all 4 corners of SWMBO's '12 Jeep GC and 30K miles so far with zero issues - smooth braking even over mountain passes with her driving. Don't tell her I said that.

I had a lot of issues with powerstop, sent me the wrong parts three times, Some was not their fault I guess, my 2003 S500 was built in May of 2003 and had 2004 rears pads and rotors and 2003 front brakes, I gave up at that point

I understand how frustrating it can be. I just replaced a corroded brake line on my 2004 Audi TT 225 quattro, which was the high-perfrmance model that year. Every place I ordered the part from, including FCP Euro, sent a part that would not fit. RockAuto was the only place that had the correct part. That's the problem with 21 year old cars.

Just bought power stop rotors and pads for all 4 corners from Rock Auto. They lost one of my packages but resent without issues

If they give less brake dust than my brembo pads, im content. The Brembo pads were terrible for dusting.

I notice front wheels pick up more dust as they're dirtier which is normal given their size but I presumed Brembo pads were better than the rest when it comes to the dusting issue

1. Akebono pads. Better feel than stock IMO. Far less brake dust, as in incomparable! I've used Akebonos on various Volvos and a Suburban over decades, and now the family E350. Stellar pads.
2. Check your rotors to see whether there is a pronounced "lip" which indicates rotor wear. And are you feeling any vibration under braking, particularly heavy braking or braking on a long downgrade? If the answer is no to both, then you really do not need to change rotors at all. Of course it doesn't hurt you to buy four new rotors, except the pain in the wallet. Seriously, if no pronounced wear and no vibration under braking, why throw money away for no gain.

Thats exactly what I did. Swapped my old pads with brembos like 4 years ago and kept the rotors. Fast forward to today and im pretty sure one of my rotors are wrapped. Brake pads only had around 5.5k miles on them.

I assume when you say "warped" it is because you're getting that vibration or "shudder" under braking, right? Fwiw, it's typically pad deposits on the rotor(s) as it is genuinely fairly difficult to warp a rotor under street use. Still, if that's what you're getting, then the Zimmermans are excellent rotors (used em in the past with Porsches both seen track use). I'd still recommend the Akebono pads, however ...just excellent street pads IME. Make sure you "bed in " the pads in properly with the new rotors and hopefully that will leave you with 100k of happy braking

I have a 2014 E550 which has a different rotor and pad setup than the E350. I had a very bad experience with multiple sets of Zimmerman rotors and a set of RB rotors. All my problems were resolved when I installed Brembo rotors. Currently have 41K miles and 5 years on Brembo rotors. Brembo pads are great at braking but dust like CRAZY and damage wheels. My front pads are Disc Italia Titanium Kevlar , which have been pretty solid. Just something I was testing out since there are not many pad selections for the E550. I have Akebono pads in the rear.

My recommendation for you is Brembo rotors and Akebono pads at all 4 corners. If you plan on keep the car for a while, purchasing parts from FCP Euro will save you a ton of money. After the first purchase, all replacements are just the price of you shipping the old parts back to them. Even motor oil.

My MY'14 E350 came factory new with BREMBO disks + TRW dusty pads. The issue is with the strong caliper hardware springs that PREVENT EVEN WEAR. Self-centering is disabled by torquing calipers over slide pins.

Akebono are great everyday pads.
They check all the boxes: good on wear, quiet and clean.

The only issue is they are trouble-free!
"Made In Japan" is bad for business.
