Brilliant, this is great news!

Parts are now available to rebuild rattling VVT Gears with a new plate + pin once wasted by limited oiling.

PlanB: don't stick with stock.

To be fair these guys were working on M156 V8s, other than the company in Poland I have not seen anyone actually rebuild these, but I did send them an email asking. I also have not seen the rebuild parts anywhere. If nothing else they are only 3 hours away from me, maybe I'll let them do the whole job if they are not too expensive.

I will say though, now that I have all the part numbers, I am finding complete sets of four adjusters on eBay, supposedly OEM (stampings are identical, in OEM boxes) for $200-$400, then the valves on top of that for maybe another $200. At that point it's kind of silly to go another route. Just need to decide if I'm confident enough to tackle this myself. It doesn't seem like rocket science, but if that chain slips and I don't realize it, and I install it one tooth off.....goodbye engine. I'm capable of doing jobs like this, sometimes I just don't feel like assuming the risk.

Does anyone have the WIS for this? I bought the WIS CD-ROM a long time ago but for some reason the emulator I need to run it won't work after I got a new laptop a couple years ago.

I'm right there with you. I've rebuilt old chevy V8's, replaced all kinds of parts, the transmission in my Wife's Mercedes and a couple of LS swaps but.... this whole getting the timing right really concerns me. Interesting that you mentioned about letting them do the job for you because they are about seven hours from me but just a couple of hours from my Son. So, I thought I could drop the car off and hang out with him a few days.

So, today I took off from a stop light rather "Briskly" and the check engine light came on. The car seemed to run fine. I scanned it and got codes P013E and P014A. Downstream Oxygen sensors inaccurate reading. So, is my rattling chain(s), tensioners and cam phasers about to let go? Or was it just an erratic reading from taking off so quickly? My plan is to tear into it this fall and replace repair all of the above. But the company doesn't have repair plates for the M157. They said they are working on it but it'll probably be at least six months before they will offer them for sale. I know the chains, tensioners are expensive but replacing the phasers is OUCH!!!!!!

I'd say not related to the phasers, because O2 sensors commonly start to go around this mileage. But it is odd that both went off at the same time.
