Question about Engine Mounts for Mercedes E250 W212 — Same Part Number for Both

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a pair of engine mounts for my 2014 Mercedes E250 W212 (Febi brand). I have a few concerns and would really appreciate your advice:

  1. Both mounts have the exact same part number, but they came in separate boxes. Shouldn’t there be a “LEFT” and “RIGHT” designation? There’s nothing written about left or right on either box or the mounts themselves.
  2. Are the mounts supposed to be identical, or are they usually different for each side on this model?
  3. I asked the shopkeeper, and he said it’s completely normal — that they use the same part number for both sides.
  4. I also tried searching the part number online, but I couldn’t find clear information regarding left/right fitment.

Should I keep these mounts, or do I need to return them and get different ones for each side?

Has anyone else faced this? Any guidance would be really helpful before I go ahead with the installation.

Thanks in advance!

I had my engine mounts replaced recently and they're the same; interchangeable.

Then why do they have left and right mentioned on them?

Spruze, in your original question, you wrote, " There’s nothing written about left or right on either box or the mounts themselves." Then you asked, "Then why do they have left and right mentioned on them?" Seems your questions are contradictory! I recall mine did not specify right or left and mechanic who installed them had no problems.

I am talking about other brands that have mentioned left and right like Lemforder. Why do some brands have it and why doesn’t Febi have it I meant. Which brand were yours?

I used Febi. I'm not sure why others show L and R.

2014 - W212.065 - E400 ( M276.820, 3 liter Turbo) RWD not Hybrid
Must check EPC and your VIN.
Often both are different P/N , mine is and so is M276.9 3.5NA type W212 chassis code W212.059

M276.9 3.5NA engine. Same for both.

My E400 and a C200 W204 engine mounts P/N

------

BWT, Febi qualty I read is not so good. But since you already bought it, use it.
I stick to MB original mount.

I am really confused and worried should I get mine installed or replace them with some other brand? Can you please confirm with the VIN that are they identical? Because I am sure the MB p/n are also different but in real do they really have a difference?

My factory installed mounts failed after 40K miles, so let’s see how long these Febi last for. It’s known how mounts on the W212 are one of its Achilles tendon.

Engine mount is a comfort consumable component.
It is not about how long it will last, it is about how well zero vibration transfer to your car should handled by the said mount.

I replace mine every 25,000KM
I am now at 43,000KM ish and on my third set of engine + tranny mounts, including 1st one from factory built in 2014. Thus I replaced on my own twice already.

My roads are bad too.
