FOB 2032 UPGRADE
Quote: update: change the keyfob to CR2032. So far the "change battery" message has disappeared.
The cr2032 is way too thick, couldnt be fit properly. I had to use force to jam it into the battery tray. Next time when It need to be removed will be a major problem.
Let see how long will this bigger battery last.
(pix upload not working)
CR-2032 are thicker but not too thick to fit in fob slot

it was difficult to fit the new battery, needed to used lots of force. Once it was in, it fit and closed without issue.

For me, the challenge in going to a CR-2032 battery is getting the cover to click back into place securely. (i.e., the thickness of the CR-2032 will bow the cover outwards, not allowing the cover to snap completely closed.) The cover then pops lose at random, and with my luck the cover will get lost.

To fix this, I removed the cover, and with a sharp X-Acto knife, I shaved the rubber in the area indicated in red. I removed enough rubber material in this area that allows the thicker battery to fill that space... and flatten the cover to it's normal position when reinstalled. You can remove all of the rubber in this area if you want, or just remove a little at a time, then test.

Once done, the cover snaps securely in place as it formerly did with the CR-2025 battery. Job done!

I posted this on another thread (I think) I had exactly the same issue with the Replace Key Fob battery warning message and the final solution to mine was putting in Panasonic 2032 batteries specifically ones that do not have the bitter tasting coating that they use to discourage kids from swallowing the batteries! Apparently it's a big deal with Airtags not working correctly too.

I initially replaced the battery with a Duracell battery (with the coating) and the problem came back within a day. Then my mechanic replaced it with an Energizer battery (also with the coating) while trying to figure out why the message came back. Then I found other threads on this (and other forums) saying that they were having success with Cr2032 batteries that didn't have the coating. Once I popped one of those in, the warning never came back.

maybe the extra coating makes a different in fitting!. I used the Duracell (with the coating) cr2032, and it was very difficult fit (next time need to remove will be an issue). So far only a couple days but seem to be good.

I had the same headache matching AG10, 389, and 390 for a couple of old remotes, and the lr1130 battery equivalent chart really cleared things up for me because it lays out the alkaline vs silver‑oxide differences in plain sight. It made picking the longer‑lasting SR variant way easier and saved me from buying the wrong pack again.

I’m going to try this, though I’m not sure it will work. I will also try putting the fob to sleep (two quick lock button pushes) first.
