Bad luck and brain fog - Quick Jack near disaster

One is my brain fog. I am not very healthy at the moment.
hence I have brain fog.One more is BAD LUCK.
The brain fog made me stupid enough to not check Quick Jack full travel and confirm its auto LOCKED its CAM.
The BAD LUCK is one of the Quick Jack cylinder developed a fault/leak and it could not fully extend the piston and hence wont lock its CAM. Never ever I had this mechanical problem.
It all happened fast.... as I was lowering the Quick Jack by 2-3 CM to make it LOCK its CAM.
Left side did lock its CAM, but right side never fully extended its piston and thus its CAM will not LOCK

Below if LEFT SIDE, FRONT
.
Bwlow is LEFT SIDE, rear
.
Below is LEFT side
--------------
Below is RIGHT side, the one with the cylinder failing to fully extend its piston and IS NOT getting the CAM to LOCK.
See the CAM is short of like 7cm of travel to the back.
So basically the car was sinking towards its RIGHT side where the Quick Jack is collapsing alone. LEFT side is OK, but car shifted out of its support rubber blocks and nylon 66 jack pads.
Two big jacks saved the day and my tire support stands ( 4 units ) took over the car load, without these 6 devices, I don't know what will happen.
===========
Today I tested Quick Jack without the car as load............ found the culprit.
Yesterday the piston shaft seal did not leak out oil yet, today it did.
How is the seal inside the cylinder ?
.
What damage on my car ?
Good thing only this area torn. It is plastic side skirt. I was worried the brake line get squeezed.
Brake lines all good. FRONT LEFT.
LEFT side, rear. Brake lines OK.
The plastic side skirt is crazy flexible and tough. Few of the plastic screw pop out, but easy to put back.
Damage/torn on the RIGHT side is at the hairy sound shield board, near rear tyre. This is from Quick Jack being shifted.
.
Good thing my thermocouple wire for DIFFERENTIAL casing /oil temperature did not snap. I made lots of freeplay/leeway
ALU tape came off...from the pressure being pushed up.
Will see what I shall do.
Buy new cylinder from Quick Jack at US$362 FOB USA, and it will cost a fortune in tax and Fed-Ex to ship into Indonesia. Probably will be US$750 landed price including tax based on CIF price

or have a local shop try rebuilding it first...........

Stay safe when using Quick Jack......... damn, even my Quick Jack is aging, not only my car.

01- Read the owner manual properly and completely.
02- User tips #1 :
When lifting up the QJ, its CAM will first touch and jump over the 1st stop ( middle height ).
Listen to the sound of Left and Right CAM jumping over the lock/notch at 1st stop. They should sound either both at the same time of very close together, meaning .........
the lifting speed and height is near identical. Its never 100% identical to millimeters accuracy, but to CM accuracy is possible.
Practice first with your body weight and not using the car , how to manipulate the CAM to do its auto locking at 1st stop notch.
You need to play with rise and down of the QJ to learn this and if one side LOCKED and the other did not, disaster will happen when you try to lower both.
The same applies to 2nd stop/notch, the highest setting of QJ.
03 - User Tips #2 :
Raise QJ to maximum height till you hear the CAMs jumping the 2nd lock/notch, this is highest level.
To lock the QJ, you need to lower a tiny bit so that the CAM will auto lock to 2nd lock/notch.
Inspect by visual and touch, making sure the U shaped lock near the CAM indeed have locked.
The lock is actually not the CAM but the end of the steel bar where it has a U shape lock, where the CAM is at.
.
U shape lock at the steel bar end, near the CAM
The overall design is elegant.
All you need is to be extra vigilant and confirm each and every use where you truly get both sides of the QJ to be in LOCKED position.
Do not rely on the hydraulic cylinder itself as a locker, use the steel bar CAM-LOCK........ just in case the hydraulic cylinder develop a leak like mine

The QJ is now 8 years old. I bought it in 2018.
It has done a few hundred lift up-down operations.
Near miss in those 8 years ? Yes..........once at 1st lock, middle height .
All QJ trouble or accident is always one side get LOCKED and one side did not get locked...always.
Stay safe................

There must be stressed points handling load, locks and the likes - Any seals maintenance kit?
Pls be safe

Seriously. super glad you were hurt and the damage was a minor as it was.

, thank you.
Great “lesson learned” to never get under a car without thoroughly ensuring everything is working properly and you have backup support if possible. Your tire support stands saved the day.
