Eco start/stop

As I noted in another thread, I bought a gadget from a seller on eBay for $129 plus shipping that did the trick: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253177763173
You simply plug it into the OBD2 socket, wait for a message to display on the computer screen, and then remove it. Voila! No more start/stop unless you want it, no wiring to do, not detectable.
See this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...t-eco-off.html

If you are looking for a way of having control over ECO start/stop this is the way to do it.

If any of you find it annoying to have to disable Eco mode every time you get into the vehicle, we make a solution to this issue. It is programmed to shut off Eco mode every time you start the vehicle, but the Eco function can be turned on and resumed at any time. Lots of satisfied customers. Check it out!

There are several things that must be within a certain range before eco start/stop will actually shut down the engine. One of them is the A/C cannot be running. Living in Florida the car A/C runs 9 or 10 months of the year. Thus I don't have to turn off eco start/stop except during January and early February when I can enjoy some fresh air.

Aircon can be running, the car will restart if the temperature can't be maintained within the threshold, but that's usually a few minutes or so.

My A/C is barely able to maintain the 68°F to 70°F temperature settings in city stop and go traffic. The ambient temperatures here have been in the mid 90°F's all summer. The MB shop manager told me that there are 17 items that must be true to enable the ECO start/stop to function. As a test I opened a window about an inch and ECO stopped the engine immediately. Evidently an open window negates the A/C running condition.
