W213 Judder + other issues

All,

Just to add to this list. Picked up a 66 E220d AMG line W213 with 35k miles on it. Everything seemed OK when I got the car.

Items that are currently wrong with the car:

1. Brake Judder: Started using adaptive cruise and now I have serious brake judder. Adaptive cruise seems to really put the brakes on and then keep them on whilst stuck in traffic. There is a service bulletin for the SE model on this. Car going in on Tuesday to MB for an investigation (Bulletin: LI42.10-P-066910 AUG17 – 213 without AMG juddering/shuddering of the brakes at the front axle can be felt when braking, check the wheel assembly components – disc brake & brake pad condition, wheel imbalance, suspension & steering parts, and wheel hub contact surface. If none of the components are visibly or measurably damaged replace brake pads.)
2. Cracked alloy: Hit a mammoth pothole on the way back from London and it's cracked one of the 19" alloys. Also damaged both nearside bearings. GOD DAMN YOU RUN FLATS.
3. Ride is crap i.e. car tramlines. I would put this down to the RUN FLATS though. I had this with my previous BMW however, it cleared once I removed the RUN FLATS. Problem is that a full set of tyres for this car is over £500! Probably going to do it though ...
4. Passenger seat is squeaking on corners (Bulletin raised for this [LI91.10-P-067712 FEB18 – 213 up to 1/9/18 (VIN A409095), 205 up to 12/19/17 (1F394735), 257 up to 1/8/18 (A000497) left side of seat creaking noise when cornering. A burr at the bottom of the backrest member may cause contact with the lower cross member. This produces a sound when the two components move.])
5. Rattle from the dash!! Last car I thought would have this.
6. Door Mirror LED headlamp failed (See here for my guide on how I fixed my for £20)

Other than that I absolutely love the car. But sort of kicking myself why I didn't get a new 3 series estate. Love the way a BMW drives.

Might I ask if this is same part number for all W213 220d tanks? I have same problem and have been to MB dealer 3 times in last 3 months but their fix has not lasted. My VIN is

WDD2130042A048206.

Thanks for any help you can give :-)

Thanks again. I’ve managed to source and order a salvage one, same part number ending in 6001 as originally fitted, which is on its way. Do you know if this will require to be coded to the car?

Really great to get the part number so I could order a replacement with confidence. Salvage tank now fitted and fault has stayed away for a week so fingers crossed. No coding needed :-)

After changing first the back shocks the car is more stable, but front end still a big issue. Unsafe to drive! The local dealer after proposed to change the front shocks also now that the problem is not fixed says that it seems that this car has this type of handling.

The front axle suspension is very soft. The car entering in holes it keeps moving up and down, also left right. I am very disappointed!

Good evening,
May I asked who changed your shock absorbers and if they were changed thru warranty? Did the dealer made a suspension test? I did a test in Romania and the shock absorbers are almost 80% damaged. Mercedes London checked the car and said it is fit to drive and no fault has been noticed although I have showed them the test result from Mercedes Romania. I think trey are trying to fool me. I am still on warranty.

1) i have this too, but only when i back up.
had the dealer check it out when i first got the car, but they could not find anything wrong with it
it seems it only does it at startup though (IE when you leave the parking space)

3) every time after service has been done i get the high oil level message".
i guess they top it off to the max max and then when the oil heats up it goes over the limit.

1. Get it plugged in for codes
2. That’ll be you shock absorbers ie they’re not providing the ‘control’ on the suspension. One way to tell is if you push the car down and it just bounces all over the place ie not a controlled return.
3. I’ve had that as well on a non-MB service however never happened on genuine MB service. Always been on the line every time
4. Yeah probably means the oil has come out of them unless they’re adaptive?

Btw I’ve just had my front lower control arms replaced and this has deffo reduced the side to side away I had with this car.

E 220d w213
Hi everyone
I have also some problems with suspension on w213 with only 46 000 km. After a suspension test on 2 different services i found that all 4 pcs of shock absorbers have efficiency less then 30% . For the moment i am in discussions with MB about this problem.
According to VIN : WDD2130041A586259 suspension code is 677 and front shock absorbers should have code A213 320 36 30 but i observed on my car are installed A 213 320 20 13 which i cant find any details about them .
How did you solve problems with suspension ?
Which P/N i should use for 677 ?
What is the difference between suspensino 677 and 485 ?

Thanks !

Hi all. First posting on here so forgive me if this has been covered before.

I have recently purchased my first ever Mercedes’, a W213 E-Class 2017 AMG line. I have always had BMW before, the last one being the 420dgrand coupe m sport.
To begin with I thought it was just my imagination or the fact that it’s a different car that I had to get used to to but I’m now convinced that this car has serious stability issues. It’s a terrible drive and it feels like it’s actually throwing you about when driving down A roads. The slightest bump seems to send the car side to side and the thud when it hits a pot hole is bad. It does have the 20” amg wheels on which I know will make the ride a little less comfortable but this is really bad. It has Michelin run flat tyres.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone with advice or people with similar experiences.

regards

Pete

Ad blue problems

[I have owned my W213 for 5 months. Great to drive and be in, but so far has been costly in diagnostic checks. I also have the same error messages regarding unable to read ad blue tank. Two diagnostics checks later and they say it is the wiring loom for the ad blue system. 4-6 hours labour to remove, check, repair and replace at £60/hour + VAT. Warranty company have already turned down the claim so I am stuck with it. Not happy at the moment with Mercedes (or the dealer that sold me the car!).

QUOTE=Tinboyboy;7751598]Have you managed to rectify this issue?

I am having the same CEL and a diagnosis shows the nox sensor faulty. Previously no issue with the adblue measurement but recently it’s been showing adblue cannot measure even though I have filled it to the brim. My dash is now showing I have 700km till engine start not possible. However this got restarted twice over 2 days when I start my car and sure enough the adblue measurement was full before malfunctioning and showing cannot measure again after a couple of minutes.

Went to the Mechanic and he said it might be due to a faulty sensor in the adblue tank. Anybody knows what’s the part number for the adblue sensor?

thanks in advance.

Umm.. I guess the rattle from dash actually comes from the suspension. Especially if you have cracked the rim. I didn't even hit a hole, just a wave on the road and my strut mount failed as well as the engine mounts.

For me the buzz came from rear door - was hard to recognize. The sound came from the ambient light guide. There is a connector with LEDs which is not fixed to anything except the lightguide itself. This connector caused the lightguide to resonate. Once I stuffed some rubber between the connector and door panel, the buzz is gone. You have to unclip the doorpanel to do that, otherwise 5min job.

Thank you so much, that was very quick
Do you have knowledge about part numbers e.g.
My Adblue tank part no. as per the PDF are;
A2134709301 (or new ref. A2134705402)

However the other PDFs you shared with other users previously, have given ref. on PDF
A2134709301 and A2134706001

My question is; we share A2134709301 but their Tank also refers to A2134706001, Does it mean, i can also use A2134706001
I just want to understand how important it is to match the exact part numbers when seeking a replacing part.
or is it just the inittial A213470 needs matching?
Thanks if you could do any help with this query.
P.S. on Ebay/Google Tanks with all of the above references have exactly the same shape

As it pertains to your VIN same part 5402 replaces 9301 usually indicating modification however, not certain what that modification may be. Therefore, shop 9301 used or 5402 new/used.
