OK

The part arrived today. The company i went through said i needed 2 components the console trim and the storage cover, however by doing this i ended up with 2 storage covers.
The part number 238 680 1503 actually comes with the console trim and the storage cover trim as the one “collective” pack.

here are some photos

Had my dealer in Las Vegas swap out my piano black console for black ash in my 2017 E43. What a world of difference it makes and no more worrying about it scratching so easily.

No wonder why coordinating center consoles are options on the 2018 models!

I have an E63S with the Magnolia Flowing lines interior. I was thinking about getting the AMG carbon fiber trim for my center console, since I understand the Magnolia flowing lines is not offered for the center console.

Vic Viper, or anyone else who knows, would I lose NFC or wireless charging by making this switch? Also does anyone know the part number for the AMG carbon fiber console with ambient light and IWC clock?

Thanks in advance.

I've been following this thread, and finally called my NorCal dealer parts dept regarding availability. The A238 part # is available by special order only(1 week)...and is expensive.

However, I'm nervous about ordering because the parts guy says... the E sedan part number should start A213 (A238 is the coupe), and he can't guarantee the parts are interchangeable.
and,
He thinks the cup holder lid is NOT included with A238 680 15 03.

Much obliged for any help, including "try a different parts guy".

The part is interchangeable...see my car below.

All of the parts you need to replace your piano black console come under that part number and I'm pretty sure Vic Viper knows what he's talking about.

As for the price...dude you drive a Benz...just sayin'

Just double checking.
If I didn't trust (most of) the information I get in this forum I would have believed the Parts guy. Glad I didn't. Thanks for the help.

Do you have to unplug the battery prior to taking off the trim ?

To the previous poster, i can assure you that the part number also includes the centre console as well as the “ashtray” or whatever its called cover. I was also under the advice of the parts people and they said to also order the cover so i ended up with 2.

I swapped mine over today - it takes about an hour and that’s for a novice as you’re not sure in some of the cases on how to remove the clips. Some are push some are pull. Note the ones connecting the ambient lights are a pull.

When i first started i wasn’t sure how to lift the console out as i thought i was going to break it - but you dont. You push it in and lift it out and then start taking the connectors (clips) out.

Photos are exactly like Vic Viper posted so i will refrain from taking his thunder.

Half way through

Finito. Quality of photo doesn’t look too good as its super bright today

Thanks Vic. I must really say i am so thankful for your posting of this thread.

I do have a further question, with the COMAND controller, i see that some people have different buttons to me

Is it possible to swap the buttons individually from say the left side to the right side? I should have checked that when i had it all out today but i forgot to look until now

I took this from E loves pic as he has a button which looks like air suspension and COGS (settings?) with memory?

Can i move the dymamic select button to the other side?

Buttons pictured are from an AMG with ADS (Adaptive Damping System)

However they are not possible to swap as the left and right side buttons are part of a complete unit, you can only remove the button cluster as a whole and not individual buttons.

Thanks Vic
I wonder however if there is a RHD console part that I could order like it shows in the Owners Manual.
In the Owners Manual it shows a RHD console with the buttons reversed (which is what i want) however the RHD console in Australia is like the ones in LHD markets.

Can someone that has replace the center console tell me the part number for the piano black console? The part number should be located in the back. I purchased a preown vehicle and there’s a lot of scratches on mine so I want to replace it with a new one but don’t know the part number. I actually like the black gloss. Thanks in advance.
