Wheels...

Has anyone here tried to put non-Mercedes wheels on their cars? I know that the bolt pattern is 5X112... There are a lot of Audi wheels that are the same bolt pattern and offset... Do you think that would be weird?

I'm in the same boat. So far I'm looking for bronze 19" wheels to put on, but pickings are slim unless I'm willing to shell out $2k+

The problem with the replica or non-OEM wheels as I understand it is non-standard caliper/suspension clearance. It may be the same width and offset, but the pattern of the wheel inside may be substantially different.

That said, may as well see. Some of the Audi wheels look good.

Simple answer, Tire rack.

So far in the correct offset range (42mm-45mm) there are very few pickings, and none in bronze unfortunately.

There's a nice set of black Enkei's, but I've no idea of the quality. Where I'm at we get lots of potholes in winter and I've already bent one wheel on my existing car. Ideally I'd get a set that is either cheap to replace or strong enough to deal.

I'm currently looking into HRE's Flow Form line and Vossen's VFS line. I'm taking my time to see what others come up with. Its a bit tough to find the exact size and offset to go with right now bc not very many owners have modded the W213, let alone the E43

True, though the E43's 20" multispokes look soooooo good on the wagon in white. I've been of a mind to simply get those instead, but the price is prohibitive ($4k/set)

You are right, I also love the OEM AMG multi-spoke wheels but they are just not aggressive enough with their fitment. I believe they are 20x8 et45 front and 20x9 et45 rear which doesn't give the car a wide enough stance to match its power & performance in my opinion. Having said that, I will probably pick up a sportier set to throw on for car meets and pictures and keep my OEM set for when I want to keep it clean and simple

Ah, totally understand. Definitely want it to have the "Stance"

I've been told on the E400 4Matic wagon they are 19x8.5 on all four corners, so not sure why the 20's would be 8" wide. Go figure.

There is no 19x8,5 in the W213 program

The S213 All Terrain 4-Matic uses 20x8.5 front and rear, but the "normal" 4-Matics all use staggered setups with exterior AMG.

Many many sites to browse and visualize.
Butler Tire (Atlanta, Ga) has a nice selection and gallery.
Element Wheels lists dozens of wheel manufacturers
Tire Rack (of course)
USA Rim for replicas
Many others...

Additionally, most wheel manufacturers have their own sites and often offer easy contact information. It's mostly a matter of price and preference.

Interesting. Do you know what the sizes are for the 19" AMG-line? I'm looking to order my wheels ahead of time.

Thanks

ET is wheel offset, a lower value means a more protruding wheel and the other way around.

I mean the HRE FF15's start at $625 per wheel for the E43. HRE quality + this low price point makes it pretty much a no-brainer.

I built a W212 E63s on Forza with the HRE FF01's that I am considering, I put together a side by side with my E43 for a rough comparison

Just an FYI : I have an E400 and have done enough research on wheels to say that if you have a wagon I believe ALL wagons built for USA have a standard rear jump seat. I believe this is true for AMG wagon as well except maybe 6.3 and 6.3S (but unsure). The jump seat foot area and battery is slightly encroaching into the wheel well, therefore limiting sizing on staggered wheels , especially on the 20" variations thus seeing same size 17,18 and 19 rims at all four corners seems to be norm on the wagon.

Wagons built for delivery outside USA the jump seat is an option. And also why pictures of MB wagons with 20" wheels look so great online and are usually European models.
Hope this helps,
sj

Rear facing, cargo area 3rd seat. 2 kiddies will fit. Many wagons used to have them, particularly, the big old US wagons.

Ok, we are talking about SA-code 844 "Folding Bench Seat In Cargo Area"

This is not interfering with the outer wheel wells, a 844 vehicle will fit just as wide wheels as a car without the code.

Thats good news and I hope you are correct Vic, MBUSA and many MB service and parts people, I have called 5-6 but not all to say because of this jump seat foot location is the problem for offset. I apologize for any incorrect info but the higher ups than myself that are supposed to know says different
So Vic if you can confirm the wagon wheel details of this dilemma for some of us in the US it would be appreciated.

My own custom setup is:

9x21 ET40
11x21 ET50

Works like a charm.

A Jump seat is a compact, hide away, folding seat, typically installed in Estate Cars. Typically used by children, as the seats are to small for full size adults.
