Rentech Stage 2 (+20 HP)

Hey guys, I’m kinda new to tuning and thought of tuning my 2018 E43 (w213) with Renntech’s Stage 2 which will power it up from 396 hp to 416 hp. So my question is: Will it make a big difference? And I would also like to know if it’s gonna make any changes in terms of 0-60 mph.

Wouldn't waste my money on that. All they have done is taken the C43 tune and applied it to the E43. Its too coincidental that when you look at the power output levels of their C43 tune matches almost exactly to the E43. This is what causes the net output on the advertised E43 tune to be only +20, which is pathetic compared to the price.
I went with Eurocharged tune for my E43 as their Cincinnati location is close to me. Very impressed so far.

I was thinking the same about the overpricing. I actually found another tune that makes +100HP by AMR here: http://shop.amrperformance.com/2017/...g-makes-100hp/

Could you tell me more about the tune that you made?

I looked at both tuning options AMR and Eurocharged. From what I understand they are both pretty equal in net gains. For my choice it boiled down to which one had a location closer I could go to. I'm not a fan of taking out my own ECU and shipping half way across the country. Plus I like the local support in case any problems arise or I need a reflash back to stock.
In terms of performance, I came from an Audi S6, so I felt the E43 needed a little more torque/horsepower and the Eurocharged tune has made the car feel much more responsive. Great modification in my opinion.

Tuning the E43 engine is a waste, its tuned from the factory! That is why rentech's tune seems so pathetic, there really isnt much to do without negatively affecting the engine. AMG pretty much maxed it out for street application. Im sure some tuner will offer some outrageous tune somewhere, sometime which will either be fake or blow it up, no thanks.

And you're basing this opinion on what exactly? Do you tune cars and know what is or isn't left on the table? Every manufacturer leaves plenty on the table to tune, especially with forced induction cars. I've tuned every vehicle I have owned from Porsche's, Audi's, BMWs and now this Mercedes E43. Renntechs tune is pathetic because their lazy marketing didn't even take the time to update the tune outputs separate from the C43. The E43 has bigger turbos than the C43 and should yield better gains if the tuners take the time to customize it appropriately. I get the C43 has a broader marketing base for these modifications but hopefully they will give us E43 guys a little more attention.

.
The E43 engine is already a tuned version of the E400 engine that adds ~60 hp.

I believe the turbos are larger on the E43 versus E400. I haven't seen the exact specifications but several articles mention they are AMG spec specific turbos for the E43. Its not just tuning making the difference.

Rentech is one of the most well known and oldest tuners, once it was MB only. If all they can get is 20 hp, I can guarantee that is as good as it gets.

I agree with that statement. I am guessing Renntech feels that 20 hp is what they can get out of the car safely.

Would you guys recommend the AMR +100hp tune? I’m kinda new to tuning but if the AMR tune has a warranty, then I guess it’ll be okay. For now I’m just gonna wait a little longer. Hopefully a better tune gets released.

I'm not aware of AMR tune having a warranty if something goes wrong with your engine. I know Eurocharged does but you will need to check with both. I think the +100 is fine for these engines. I'm attaching a link below of latest tune update from AMR on the C43. The C43 gets a lot more focus in the tuning world due to the marketing base but as they improve that platform it should benefit the E43 given the engines are very similar minus the turbos. I believe they've got the C43 up to 427whp. Which is a little over 500hp at the crank. Wish they would spend a little more time on the E43 as information is very slim.
