Voice navigation not finding addresses

I have a 2018 E-400 and for the life of me, I cannot get this vehicle to navigate to an address that I request via a voice command. It comes up with weird address usually in a different city or even a different country. Any of you E class owners have the same problem, and if so, is there any solution.

What country are you in and where are you trying to go. Previous MB nav systems had trouble with street addresses with more than 4 parts. My street address has 5 parts plus city and state. The current nav system has no problems with a 5 part street address.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our previous car, an Audi A4 had no problems finding addresses within the city (via voice command).

I tried to input my home by saying "Navigate to home" the other day and it gave me choices of street name like Rome. In the past, it navigated us home just fine. What did I do differently?

Exactly! What in the hell is going on? I am getting a little discouraged with MB. We are paying a lot of money for features that just don't work. Have a long list of issues that I will be taking up with our dealer.

As a whole, voice recognition is a hell of a lot better than it's ever been...but still sucks. I'm one of the voice training models for one of the major consumer voice recognition services used today (hintour phone may have it)...and have a couple of their devices...and even with my voice being part of the system's training, it still gets it wrong.

For some reason,my voice doesn't do good with programing the nav system for destination. So now I go the easy way & just use the me phone app to 'send to mercedes'.

I don't have any issues with E Class voice navigation. On the other hand my BMW 5 Series couldn't interpret my mid-west voice. Around town I use nav frequently to avoid traffic congestion.

I know this is an old post…but in case anyone still has this problem, the E class comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I use CarPlay with my iPhone and rarely have an issue with voice commands. It also provides much better driving directions. Pair your phone and give it a try.

I agree- Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is much better.

However, a tip with the inbuilt navigation in this model (as I had the same issue and remember reading the manual on it)- it works if you say the address backward.

Dumb… I know.

So, instead of “Navigate to… 5 Smith Street, Jonesville”, you need to say “Navigate to… Jonesville, Smith Street, number five”.

Keen to know if this works for you… I’m in Australia and it works perfectly here using this approach. The online manual isn’t terribly clear here- but it hints at this in the structure/order of the navigation commands in the examples. I can’t recall what the paper manual said on it.

Exactly! Start with the largest geographical area then the next, etc.

None of you have yet mentioned that you can minimize errors by training the system to recognize your voice, covered in the manual.

My dealer's customer tech support person included the voice training along with instructions on how to use the other features as part of a delivery orientation session.

If only all dealers were as attentive to include voice training at delivery.

Mine doesn't work that way. I can say, "Navigate to 200 North Main Street, Los Angeles," for example, and it will find it 99% of the time. I can also say something like, "Navigate to Sea World, San Diego," and it will generally work depending on how well known the destination is.

The ease of destination entry may depend upon what destinations are already in the nav system. I have my own address in the system as "home" so that no matter where I am or unsure of my whereabouts, I can simply say "Navigate to home."

In my case, MY 2020 E450, it started acting like that after the end of the 3-year period and when I didn't pay for a couple of navigation related services. I suppose if I renew point of interest and navi service it would go back to working like before.
