Transmission jerk when 2 to 3

my w213 runs smoothly but when I slow down then push the acceleration pedal again, my car jerks a little bit. seems like gear changes isn't right away when I brake.
Is it the way of Mercedes's transmission or should I call the service?

Adjust, your driving style, I'd say. You're catching the car in between gear changes and since what it has learnt about you is different from what it expects, this is the result.

Sort of related to this, how do you clear what the car has learned about your driving style?. In my previous car, stepping on the brake with the ignition light on for 10 secs before starting the engine would clear the data.

Sounds like you need to have your TCU flashed. I had this problem with my C250 and this was my solution.

On S+ mode downshifts in the lower gears can be jerky, completely normal, they can rarely be slightly less than perfect in other modes. Personally the 9Gtronic is one if not the best transmissions in the market. If you want to try an awful transmission take a CLA for a spin, the MB dual clutch in that car is terrible at slow speeds.

I don't believe this is correct, because the transmission is controlled by a TCU (Transmission Control Unit\ECU)
The changing of gears ahould not jerk. Even in S+ mode. If the transmission is jerking, either 3 things are going on..
1) like was done to my car when I was having the same problem, the firmware on the TCU needs to be updated
2) The transmission fluid needs to be flushed, nor changed, FLUSHED.
3) the transmission what's connected to the transmiasuin, is defective .

These are the options that need to be looked at.
Unless you have the star diagnostic tool, he'll need to his car to the dealership to have them look at it. The cheapest and first step they take is to check on the version of the firmware for the TCU and they update this if they find it outdated.

To diagnose from home, is suggest buy the transmission replacement kit for fcpeuro.com (because they offer lifetime free replacement, even on normal wear and tear items like this kit) and then change out your transmission fluid and filter

Its not a question of believing it just does. On sport plus the transmission is downshifting furiously at the highest possible revs that can lead to very noticeable jerkiness particularly when slowing down. If sport plus is too jarring just stay in sport. Sport plus is really only for racy operation. Having actually used the car on a track I can assure you that in those conditions it doesnt jerk at all since your foot is always on the gas. Sport plus is not for regular driving unless you are willing to live with some low speed downshift roughness. In fact that juddering is essentially programmed in! Slam-bam thank you maam. Its the same idea as the high rev misfire sound on the AMG models, the cars are not really misfiring they are programmed to do so to enhance the feel.

I am bringing my E300 into the dealership on May 2nd for this exact issue (and some other minor things). I had the same issue with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and like what others are saying, the transmission firmware (whatever its called) has to be reflashed/updated and that should fix it. I only noticed this whenever I was in comfort or eco mode. It has not happened to me in sport, sport+ or individual.

So I brought my E300 to be checked out for this issue and the service advisor told me they did not notice anything wrong with it (even though I still notice the jerkiness and slowness of it shifting) and they told me that they are not allowed to re-flash the transmission unless an error code comes up. Is this actually true?

With Jeep they would re-flash the transmission all the time whenever I brought my old 2014 Grand Cherokee in to deal with the same problem.

I read online that the "jerkiness" is caused by a known defect in the transmission contactor plate and Auto Tran valve solenoids. But usually the dealership's policy is to flash the chip.in the contactor plate, first, before swapping out parts. And furthermore, from what i read online, the flashing is not a true permanent fix anyways due to that the hardware is what's defective depending on which generation/version contactor plate you have.
Bottom line is you should have the contactor plate, with the valve solenoids replaced.

I have a 2013 C250 W204 and I also had the jerkiness when I bought the car last year, thank God I have extended warranty on my car because I was able to get my jerkiness resolved under warranty.

Yes and no. MB warranty will not pay for a software update without a reason, however, if there's a customer complaint, I often can do a reset of the adaptations and an adaptation drive process, after a software update, and get paid for it. From what I've seen there have been few issues with the new 9 speed, but anything is possible. It almost always gets better after a forced adaptation, even if only a little, and it can't really hurt.

Similar Transmission Jerk Problem

(2021 E350 W213): I had the same problem (transmission jerk going down hill while downshifting). I took it in and they updated the software and it fixed that problem. Now I have a jerk when accelerating from 2-3 and 3-4 gear. Goes away after a few miles of driving. Anyone have any luck fixing this?

Request they erase any stored codes, pull new codes. No codes, perform ‘forced adaptation’ via Xentry (MB diagnostics).

The source of your problem is that you need to have your valve body on your transmission, replaced. Or at the very least the solenoids inside the valve body, replaced. The cause is the solenoids are sticking and not moving smoothly during each shift.
you can buy the entire valve body transmission repair kit from fcpeuro.com if you are handy enough to do the repair yourself. There's also a youtube video from legitstreetcars channel where he walks you through the entire repair process, as well.

Well if you have warranty on the car still then, use the warranty! But the dealerships always do software updates first before chnaging out parts. When a vehicle is still under warranty. So if you had the software updated and still have the p4oblem, then they'll have to change out your valve body with a new one. To solve the problem.

my 2020 e350 9 Speed Transmission Always shifted very smooth. Out of nowhere it starts downshifting very roughly while slowing down and when i go from reverse to drive it jerks the whole car same thing from neutral to drive. I have endurance warranty on the vehicle. Has anyone had the same issue before? Some people say reset the transmission or change fluid. Im very disappointed in mercedes this is my 6h mercedes and i have never had any issues even at 250k miles in my 1999. They dont make them like they used to. Should i call warranty immediately or take drive it to the dealership for fluid exchange?

My 2021 E350 (per my Jan 23 post above) continued to have transmission jerks, especially when downshifting from 3 to 2.. I had the transmission re-flashed, and the mechanic test drove it and said it was fixed. It also had other annoyances, some options I wanted and didn't have, and too many miles (27000). I traded it in on a different 2021 E350 with 12000 miles and better options (cost me about $5K) and it has the same problem. It's annoying, but I'm living with it. I think it's probably an inherent design flaw. I'm hoping it gets bad enough so that I can complain seriously and get it fixed under warranty. My 2014 E350 (7 speed) was much smoother, but lacked the torque in lower (2-3-4) gears. I liked the 2014 better than the 2021 - the touch controls are terrible.

My bad, didn't notice this reply. The next step is request the dealership to perform SCN coding and/or stand still adaption. If your dealership is unwilling to help you, find another one because not all dealerships are created equal.

all they told me was they reset something after the trans fluid exchange and still did the same thing they said drive it for a week and it should fix itself. I put a bout 500 miles still the same issue. And they don’t give appointments making we wait for weeks. I came to another city just dropped it off let’s see what they say and if warranty covers it or not. Will keep y’all updated
