Problem Playing Audio Files on SD and USB
I've got SD cards with lots of music on them but Comand never seems to recognize more than just a handful, or so. Also, won't recognize USB sticks at all. I've tried Apple Lossless and FLAC and both are equal in not being seen.
Has anyone figured out the magic formula for playing audio files?
Also, can you "Search album titles" or "Show Album Titles"?

There must be a problem with how you are storing the files. I have a 256 GB SD card, about half full, and it is read faithfully albeit a bit slow. I converted all the files that were FLAC, AIFF, of WAV to ALAC format (Apple Lossless). I kept the MP3 files as is. I've been able to find all the files and music plays fine. The only problem is the track order is messed up unless I choose to play files by folder. I've also been able to call up files by Voice command "Play Jeff Tweedy", for example.
Are you moving the music from a Mac, PC, or other? How are the files being moved?

I don't have the MB internet service, so I'm not sure Gracenote is involved. I thought that was for downloading metadata, no?
I may just have to convert to 320 MP3.

FAT32 is a recommended format. Supposedly FLAC is supported, but I could see that has potential for problems. My guess would be there is some problem reading the metadata in your files. That by itself or in conflict with Gracenotes could mess things up. Sound-wise, you should not have to settle for MP3. I picked ALAC as a compromise between sound, simplicity and size but keeping things lossless.
That said, things are messed up and you want to get things working, so going to MP3 to get it working again makes sense. If I were you I would reformat the SD card to be sure any hidden registers from Gracenotes are erased. I would also just put a few dozen albums on, because that will load faster.
How are you converting formats?

I've got a the Burmester. I've only had the car for about 7 weeks. After reading the responses here, I agree that it might be a metadata issue. Also, I keep swapping out SD cards, so maybe the files are never getting indexed properly.

is your music in iTunes?
if so, try syncing to the sd card using "double twist" (free)
