Mercedes E350e hybrid 2017
What size rims 20” vs 21”

Hey guys I have a 2017 E350e hybrid 213. It came with stock 19” and I was thinking of upgrading to maybe 20” or 21” what is your recommendation also is 22” an option ? I don’t want any problems driving but I also want it to look really nice. If anyone has this same car on 20”s or 21”s I would love to get a pic to see and also post what size you running etc. Thanks

Just a heads up, If you go above 19s, ride quality does become compromised.

22s wont fit without exceeding the stock tire circumference, I run 21.s and they are great on Michelins.

Seriously, what are these boyhood obsessions with mondo wheel sizes?

-- The 18s on my E350 run much harsher than my wife's Hyundai,
-- The added un-sprung weight has to decrease gas mileage,
-- The ribbon tires require too much attention to tire pressure, else they wear out in a fortnight,
-- And I feel like I'm getting eye fatigue on long rides scanning the far distance for the slightest imperfections/potholes..

I understand style and all that Johnny rot. I just don't understand stressing-out for it. Not hating or anything like that, but in reality, the average driver is so self-absorbed in what they are doing, they won't give your car a second thought. Instead I'd be more concerned for loved ones who ride with me and how they feel about their jarred kidneys.

Have you tried 20s or 21s on a 213?

No. Why would I? And based on all the comments on these forums about the do's and don'ts (mostly don'ts), I won't.

Actually, if I wanted to drop $3000-$4000 on new wheels/tires, I would buy some 17s rather than the 18s I have.

I'm happy you enjoy the 21s on your Estate. They're just not for me.

Pretty strong opinions from someone who havnt even tried them.
Yes I am very happy with my 21s and they do not inhibit comfort in they way you want to portray at all.

I wish there could be threads like these on these pages where TS could get the answers he asked for without someone barfing out opinions about stuff they know practically nothing about.

I don't need to (try) jumping off a 50 foot river bridge on a dare by others to realize that it can have consequences.

If I felt more motivated, I would link to the dozens of threads regarding bent and broken rims, almost all of them caused by oversized wheels with nonsensically thin side wall tires.

I have difficulty imagining perfectly paved (smooth) roads in Sweden. Perhaps you live just three doors away from the dealership and don't need to drive a car to work at all. But here in America, the average commute to work from suburbia is 15-30 miles, fraught with any number of changing road hazards.

Enough for me in this thread. To each his own...
