2022 GLE 450 (Black on Black)
I ordered a 2019 E450 4Matic on June 25th and the build date is for the end of July with possible delivery sometime in September. Knowing MB, my salesperson stated that this release date could change...

E53 AMG Cabriolet order/delivery dates
I ordered on July 10, 2018 (E53 AMG Cabriolet). My production date is August 21, 2018, and dealer says the expected delivery is 2nd week of October.

Did you order the car with the HUD? My dealership just told me that there might be a slight delay with my car due to the HUD and the luxury package on the sedan which is why MB Canada haven’t assigned me a build date yet. I honestly don’t know if it’s even true or not since the dealership just opened a few months ago and this is their first time with factory ordering new model year cars for customers

I ordered with HUD (but mine is an E53 AMG Cabriolet). My dealer told me that the HUD option is limited (as is also designated on the order guide) and the allocated E53 they have available to custom and order does not have it. i can either forego the HUD option for this particular production date or I can wait until one comes available. My sales person checks a few days a week and tries to add it, and there is a possibility that a HUD unit becomes available to add to my order. If that happens before the production date, then I will get it, but if not, then my car will not have HUD. Not sure if this helps you but thought I'd send the information.

That would be mid-August which isn't too bad... Not sure how precisely they can estimate this because they need government certifications (EPA, CARB) which are not within their control. At least it looks like they don't plan to hold until September if they don't have to.

The issue here is two-fold: 1) Subject To change and 2) our salesperson was informed earlier this week that the delivery date for our car would probably be moved from late August to mid-September. Who knows. We just need to be patient with MB. They control the rodeo....

Right, but you will most likely have to pay whatever new higher pricing Mercedes charges for the model at the time of release from the VPC. For example, if the tariffs are imposed on August 23, Mercedes raises the prices on August 23, and your car is released from the VPC on September 15, you are likely to be charged the new pricing even if your particular car happened to clear customs on July 15 which is before the tariffs were imposed.

Again at this point there are no tariffs - and there may not be any and further they will be advance notice, usually 60 to 90 days. Remember this is the EU and not China!

There was no such advance notice in previous Section 232 cases even when it wasn't China. Once the Commerce Department announces their conclusion that tariffs need to be imposed for national security (which is expected to happen very soon - the hearing is done), the president will announce the tariffs, and they will be imposed within 15 days. Most likely late August. Section 232 (national security) tariffs move very fast.

Negotiations are underway and tariffs are not the foregone conclusion you are predicting.

The threat of retaliation, as you correctly mention, is a strong deterrence to the tariffs.
In any event we will have to wait and see what happens, how much of the tariffs MB will absorb and whether with the tariffs how much sales will be effected.
On the E430 I am looking at, with a MSRP of about $70,000 and dealer cost of about $65,000 a tariff of 25%, will be an increase of over $16,000. As I plan to lease for 36 months, this will increase my lease payments by close to $500 a month.
That is substantially more than I, and I suspect everyone else who leases, will be willing to pay.

You pay only the depreciation plus interest on this $16K price increase. It should increase your lease payment by about $200/mo, not $500/mo. This is still significant, but what choice do you have? All car prices will go up, even "domestic" brands.

In a lease, like taxes, a tariff is not residualized. A tariff like taxes is added onto the lease payments.

tariffs are assessed when the item clears customs. As I read the law, any cars that are already in the US have already cleared customs and the current tariff of 2.5% has already been assessed.
At this monent, MB USA owns that car after it has been sold by MB Germany. When it gets on a truck, then MB USA sells it to the dealer.
