Well I gonna try it. I am afraid they gonna know nothing about this. Even, they did not know where are the SW versions info in the menu. They keep talked that it must be something region related issue. Maybe I gonna call the local Mercedes service center and send the pics.
Can you pls confirm that before this update the Progressive style was different ? So after it, you able to set the Assistance screen to the middle of the dash? Did you get any printed document about the update what I can show them? Thank you in advance.

I had my COMAND updated this past week in my 2017 with P3 and a HUD. Made a huge difference in the overall usability:
Before the steering wheel pad would not control in CarPlay. It now works like it should, giving me full control of the media system.
I now have the new "look" of the GUI, with the big icons and revised text captions.
My HUD now shows incoming phone calls on the windshield, even in CarPlay - which it did not before. Great feature and super helpful.
Somehow, the system now sounds better using the same settings as before (in the EQ). Seems like some processing was adjusted.
Bluetooth connects automatically (it didn't before), and it now shows all my iPhone playlists and upcoming tracks. I didn't have that before.
It's faster to boot and use...
Something else: my surround view camera options were revised. I have a different look for the front rims angle. Instead of it showing just the rims - it now shows a topview of the sides of the car. Pretty cool actually and will help in parking or drive-thrus.
my Bluetooth already worked on 0.59 perfect. Autocorrect and I can see the track names. Using Spotify on iPhone.
I have no changes on 360 camera view. Maybe this has something to do with the hardware version, my car was built on 2016/04

In the US software versions can be accessed via the Dealer menu. Engineering mode is locked on US models (perhaps all models). That said, once engineering mode is unlocked, it will stay unlocked.

From the COMAND home screen:
Highlight "Vehicle" but do not select it;
Depress the rotary controller and hold 10 seconds or longer;
Release the rotary controller and the Dealer menu will appear;
Select the option you wish to view;
IIRC the Software option is the first one;
To exit the menu select the last option.
It’s usually not part of the service. If it’s has been done, than because there was something not ok.
My experience has been that updates are not automatically done, but they are done if you simply ask the SA if any are available, whether the update addresses a specific problem or not. So, be sure to ask.
my service advisor was perplexed that I even asked for an update. I had to really insist and claim my comand was slow and buggy otherwise he said warranty wouldn’t cover the update. I swear, I wish we didn’t have to deal with dealerships at all when it comes to software updates. I told them that with the update, Apple CarPlay will allow me to use the right steering wheel touch pad for control. He claimed ignorance and said there’s no guarantee. I emphasized that other people have done the update and verified that it does work. I have a 2017 E300.

I just had service on MY 2018 and asked that SA include any software updates (or warranty, if any). North America V.17 navigation was installed. As I stated in the original post above, I just make a habit of asking.
Got a German Language Display Left Side is Travel, Right Eco View. From the Left now you can add the Assistent View 4.80.00.20 updated YESTERDAY 2020/01/23. So it must be the latest. Right side with Navigation looks also much better Right side: Consumption View

I was prior this on 0.59.00.10 - so for me it was a pretty big jump, and i got a lot new functions now. Also i have payed 90 Euros for this to my dealer - but I think its a good investigation, because after the facelift is released I would guess there will no further (needful) updates.

i saw that you also have an E class with the 4.80 Comand update. Do you possibly have a HUD in your E Class? The additional assistance graphics were actually only available in the 2016 and early 2017 models. But the later 2017 and 2018/2019 models have a different graphic without the assistance display in the middle.
In the HUD there will also be a green steering wheel when the Drive Pilot is active from the end of 2017 on, this was not available before.
I've been following this thread for a while.
I have a 2017 E300 (w213) on 00.61.00.20 and after months of back and forth with the dealership about the update and how I had the latest and how new updates could cause problems and bugs, I pushed them and got the update to 5.80.00.00.
Things I've noticed so far as some were stated in previous postsPositives
Bigger Icon home menu
Ability to turn off NFC
Caller ID in HUD
Battery remaining of connected bluetooth phone on the top right of the screen
Updated ambient light screen
Slightly faster interface/boot
Meshed side cameras during parking assist
Slightly better navigation menu
Better sound processing and loudness (better quality)
Negatives
Android Auto still 2/3 screen
Easy entry/exit still steering wheel only

Everything looks the same, I did notice that the Web Browser was fully removed from MB Apps (before there was a message stating it was no
longer supported on 3.76)
Also, want to add my “easy in and out” does work and it moves the seat and wheel at exit - no issue. It worked before and after the update. I think there is something else wrong with your car. I have a 2019 FYI.

There is a newer update than that ending in .20
I got the same update as you on the 11th of december 2020 and 2 days after somebody posted a newer update.
but what it does... no idea, I am perfectly happy with my update, as the old one from 2016(original) was buggy as hell
I don’t understand why they can’t do OTA updates like this? I know they are capable but just don’t.
This is the 2nd dealer visit so had to make to get it updated. I kept getting black screens and Siri would lock up (show up on screen and just sit there then the whole command would freeze buttons non responsive etc), I explained this and they called me: “the tech was able to reproduce the error” I was ecstatic they saw the same issue. then he continues “it’s because you’re not holding the voice button long enough” then wrote on work order he removed the USB port and no trouble found and coded as user error.
After I explained I know how to summon Siri he told me “we will look at it next time when we replace the sun glasses holder” (that was issue #2), 2nd to get sunglasses holder replaced they didn’t even look at it.
So this time I took to another dealer and it took them 2 days but the software is updated now.
So far so good. Mercedes won’t allow you to update software on your own and dealers are to lazy to actually do it.
