2018 audio 20 with the widescreen display
Hi
i bought the new e class about 2 months ago.
im realy satisfied with the car.
I'm wondering if it is possible to play video files on the audio 20 ( analog gauges)with the big widescreen display,
I've tried all sorts of formats but I can't get it to play video files, only sound from video files.
the car is equipped with the new Here maps live GPS, internet 4g connection, android auto and apple CarPlay if it helps

Nope, they don't want people watching videos driving so everything is designed just around Audio. Although I think there are some aftermarket companies that might be able to help. I know some people have been able to get videos to play while stationary via the SD card slot using a SD card. I'm not really computer savvy though with loading the videos from my computer to SD cards so have not tried it yet and do to copywrite laws there are no pre recorded SD cars with movies or other video material, you kinda have to make them yourself.

That they don't want people driving and watching videos..
But its 2019.. come on..with such a big screen you should be able to enjoy a video format. Plus i have the damn factory mirrorlink but still no video files will play..
So Annoying..

@shadow-merc I also have a 2018 E class with Audio 20 and single widescreen display - but do not have Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. How did you get that installed or to work?
I have the 2x USB socket (one of them with the mirrorlink icon for which CarPlay/Android Auto requires within the arm-rest/storage area. I've checked in all areas of settings etc. within the menu, but with no luck. I do see reference to CarPlay within the MB engineering mode - which asks about increasing CarPlay Ringtone Volume.
I asked MB dealership if they can add it in, and they said it would cost me £6,000, you read correct, £6,000!
In regards to the video playing, I've tried that, too - various file types and resolutions, and I get the same, just audio working.

The car needs to be in Park. And if you have a video playing you have to go to Full Screen option on the right hand menu while also in Park. You can view MP4 video formats and maybe some others? But you cannot view MKV video formats, only audio will play.
You can only play video from a USB stick or a SD memory card with a VIM module, as reviewed in many threads on here.

There was no video shown, or, an option to make it full screen on the menu bar.
Maybe this is something you can only do in COMAND and not Audio 20?

my car had the Android auto and apple car play pre installed from factory,
the same with mirrorlink but that still does not work,
tryed several apps, nothing….
Android auto works, but its pretty useless when you got live traffic GPS and voice command
