2018 Mercedes E300
Lightbulb 2017 E300 Digital Instrument Cluster

Hi,

I am planning on buying a used 2017-18 E300. I would really like to have it with the 12.3" Digital Instrument Cluster. From seeing the used car listings I see there aren't many used cars out there that have that option and ones that have the option are out of my budget. Wanted to know, is there anyway I can get the part from MB USA and have them fitted. Is there any other way too ?

Thanking You,
Rushabh

You can certainly get it from your dealer, but be seated and maybe have a few drinks before you find out how expensive it is. From a MB dealer, it will cost in the $Thousands of dollars. They can be found used on eBay, but I wouldn't trust a used screen. There is a thread below where there is an aftermarket (non-Mercedes) screen, which one could buy (I certainly wouldn't though) and it's a couple $Thousand and that doesn't include installation and the required reprogramming that would be required to get it up and running with the systems in the car.

Bottom line is if you really want the all digital screen, it would be wise to wait until you can find one that came built in from the factory on a good used E300.

Yep. When I settled on the E400 (before I got my E450), our dealer said it would be somewhere between $5 and $6K.

Try finding a widescreen one without comand. I ordered my new w213 which for 2019 has standard widescreen display but no comand and apple carplay etc as standard, but this is in Sweden. Might be cheaper that way?

Agree with previous posters...once you have the digital dash, you'll never go back to the analog. Retrofitting is just cost prohibited.

I am shopping for used 2017 mercedes e300 too. Did you find any 2017 e300 with digital instrument cluster at all? I didn't find any. The only 2017 e-classes that have one are with higher trim (e400, amg models). I believe that mercedes offered digital instrument cluster as a stand alone option only from 2019 model year.

As a standalone option, you are correct, it only became so for the 2019 model year. For 2017/2018 to get the digital instrument cluster, one would have to have gotten the P3 Package.

They are out there, but not easy to find. Correct me if wrong, but didn't P3 on 2017 models include a digital dash. Anyway, try AutoTempest or similar search. Good luck.

Yes, P3 included digital instrument cluster. When MB was having supplier issues, they eliminated the Digital Cluster, keeping the rest of the P3 package, but changed the name to Q3. So be careful when looking as someone might say they have a P3 equipped car, when it's actually a Q3.

I found mine in the next state over. P2, warmth and comfort and luxury. Was a loaner with 8900 miles. A 2018. Love it so far

That's the one option I wish my car did not have. You can have mine. Can not stand anything digital (if I wanted a Tesla like tablet, I would buy one). Cheapens the car IMO, but I am old school (but not old) - prefer analog speedo/tech. The rest of the car's futures are very good.

When I got my 2018, now traded for a 2019, the car didn't have the digital instrument cluster and I tried to convince myself it didn't matter. To me, it ultimately did and I am so much happier with my 2019 E450 with the digital instrument cluster. Neither of us is right or wrong. And that's why to this day, it's still an option. I'm old, but not old school! LOL

I notice where I bought my Cabriolet in Ft. Myers Mercedes just about every car they order for in stock cars is with the analog dash. They even had a Diamond White Wagon which I really liked the int better than my current wagon as it had the Multi Contour seats but I ended up with my Wagon as it does have the digital dash. Everyone is different. I think one reason some of the dealers order just the analog gauges here in Florida as people seem to like more traditional things here as they are older. Younger people are more likely to like the digital dash as it looks more like a video game, lol. I dunno maybe good I have a more traditional dash in the Cabrio as it's something different than the wagon and with the top down and sun glaring into the car maybe a little more easy to read at a quick glance than the digital dash.

Wait. Didn't you say sometime around very late November of last year that you bought both at MB of Sarasota?

Nope, bought the wagon at Sarasota and the Cabriolet at Ft. Myers. A week after I got the wagon I saw the Wagon at Ft. Myers with the Multi contour seats but it was too late I'd already got the wagon from Sarasota. Glad It worked out the way it did though as the wagon I got has the digital dash and the base seats are good enough. Strange though that Ft. Myers still has that wagon, I thought it was a really nice car especially being as loaded as it is, They've had that car for at least 4 months on their lot, maybe someone can get a deal on it. About the only thing missing is the digital dash. https://www.mercedesoffortmyers.com/...dfb74ca686.htm

You are right I stand corrected. The conversation we had was about 12% off on wagon/sedan from Sarasota. Never talked about Cab. Bad assumption on my part.

No problem, I was just looking at the above wagon and noticed the door tag has a production date of 1/19 so thats not the same car I looked at last november that was there, they got another one just like it. I like that wood steering wheel too and fact the car has the good Cinturato Tires on it over the goodyears on my car. I think I like my Brown Ash wood a little better than Burl, although the burl is nice too.

Digital display differences

I had to have my digital gauge and center cluster replaced today, when I got the car back the display options are all different, and I reaslly want to go back to my old settings. I asked the dealer if they updated software, but they said no. So now I am wondering are there differences between sedan and coupe/cab displays and did the dealer possibly install a sedan cluster in my cab? I was looking online and I noticed that some sedan videos show the cluster design that
Is in my car now. Very frustrating this experience.

I'd very surprised to learn there is any difference between a sedan/coupe screen. What exactly in the settings looks so different to you?

This is the old display I had in my E400...with info on the left a d right and the distronic info in the center

This is the new one, with only info on the left and right and no distronic in the center....in order to see the distronic information now I have to use the left information area. So I went from seein three pieces of information (typically i had audio on the left, distronic in the center, consumption on the right and then map/android auto on the other screen)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Cause the top was in my 18 cab, so I wonder if there are different clusters for sedan and cab/coupe models
