Oops, I accidentally posted in the wrong forum at first. Well, it's only been 3 months and I noticed some scratches on the edge of my center console. Anybody have any suggestions? I tried rubbing a little bit of Meguiar's liquid wax on it since I heard sometimes that can help with scratches but I still see it. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Have a good one!

Sorry to hear that. What center console design do you have? Infamous piano black (aka scratch magnet); high gloss wood finish; natural wood flat finish? If its a shiny finish a rubbing compound used to polish scratches out of clear coat might do the trick? Good luck, and let us know what you did.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't think about rubbing compound. I have the high gloss brown Ashwood.

Depends on how deep the scratches are.

I have the same happening with my black gloss. It's fine for now but once it starts to drive me crazy, I'll swap it for black ash.

Looks good new but so ugly scratched

You could also have it covered with PPF.

Paint Protection Film. There are a zillion installers. It is a clear vinyl film typically used for exterior paint. Super durable and scratch resistant (or proof according to some).

You all change it by yourself or you ask the dealer to change it?

I'm over it; I know the scratches are inherent with the piano black console. I rub some paste wax on it each time I clean up the car and keep it moving.

Hey,

My first post since picking up my new (to me) car yesterday, so hello..!!!!

The obliquity black centre console is present
The obliquity scratches are present

4 x solutions comes to mind

1. Leave it..... (OCD Overload)
2. Hunt Ebay/Breakers for a open pore Black Ash one
3. Go for the cheaper option (interim solution) -

I went with a different protective route. I ceramic coated the interior Burl wood in my new car. It looks perfectly fine now. It may take me a year or two to find out how effective it is in actually protecting the panels.

I'm thinking about wrapping mine too. Except I'll remove it for the installation.
Have you polished it before the wrap or does the PPF cover scratches?

I had Mercedes warranty replace the console before I installed the PPF. This is my suggestion - Get it replaced by Mercedes under warranty and then put PPF on it or anything that covers it in full.

I did not polish before wrapping as the install was the same day as new piano black console.

Smart. Did you simply walk in and asked them to replace it? Mine shows only micro scratches but it's not as pretty as new so a quick buff could be faster than talking to the dealer.

Yea, I had bubbling on the corners near the silver cup holder trim. I also told them, there is an abnormal/unusual amount of wear and tear that shouldn’t occur on a 2017 E class console. Regardless, however you want to say it, I think you should be successful.
