There are two Trip Odometers (maybe three?) on the car. There's Trip From Start (which appears to be from when the car is first started, but maybe(?) continuing if car is stopped then started again within a given time(?) and can also be manually reset), and Trip From Reset, which can be reset/cleared manually by pressing the button and confirming. And then there's the Trip Odometer which is displayed above the total car mileage, which seems to be completely separate, and can be cleared by pressing the button.
So, there is no automatic reset of any of these when refilling the car? At least I can't find it. Every other car I've owned in the past 15 years has that as standard or as a selectable option. I'm hoping I'm missing it somewhere.
Also, I was certain that the car would/could automatically lock itself upon exiting it, after a while. I don't necessarily need this feature, but I thought that it was there, and the Automatic Door Lock feature seems to apply only when starting to drive the car. Am I dreaming about the auto-lock feature, or am I thinking again of other cars I've owned?
No, there is no trip computer that automatically resets after refueling. The one from start will reset after about 4 hours of being stationary. The one above the main odometer is basically like a trip computer and will not clear until you clear or, but I think it auto resets every 10K miles.
No, the car will not auto lock as you walk away. I think only Tesla does that.

My wife's 2019 Kia Niro auto locks, optionally. And gas mileage resets on fillup or restart or manually, as you select. Seems like MB still has a lot to learn.

I disagree. I write down mileage stats on each fill-up, and I DON'T want the car resetting any odo readings before I write them down. Manual resets are great with me as they offer me control, not the car.

The Kia and the rest reset /after/ fillup, giving you a chance to write them down. And the Kia lets you decide when it resets, or not at all. I write mine down too, keeping track of all values. The Acura had A and B resets, each resetting as desired, and kept a history of the last 4 or so readings.
Not always, if one is using the "emergency" key and it is left in the car. I've had that happen (in a W211) where I was using that key and left it in the car. Then my well meaning wife came along and locked the car with her fob. I was locked out until she returned.

What Josh J 1001 says is correct. However if the car is locked and you unlock it but don't open any doors within a certain amount of time it will automatically lock itself again.

Since I also have a Hyundai Sonata in my stable (same conglomerate as Kia), I'll state that the "miles to empty" counter does reset automatically with each fillup. It's sometimes fun to watch the miles increase until the pump stops when full. Must be tied to the float in the tank somehow. The instant "MPG" value resets to zero as you describe. But otherwise its "AVG MPG" does not reset unless you do it manually. Otherwise you would never get a true tank-to-tank mpg.
So, NONE of the count-up odometers reset automatically, working just like the Mercedes does. The "Trip A" and "Trip B" odometers require manual resets. I write down the values and reset them manually at the end of the refill.

What vehicles do you know of the automatically reset count up trip odometers? Most cars automatically reset fuel related odometers such as distance traveled since start and distance remaining with current fuel load.

To prevent having to enter several menus to reset the ODOmeter, I reset it (e.g. after fueling) when I step back into the car and (before starting the engine!!!) I press/hold the left touchpad on the steering wheel for a few seconds and the ODOmeter is reset and of you go.
I have no idea of what kind of mileage any of my cars get. Truth be told I really don’t care.
How do you plan trips? I suppose that you don't take trips to sparsely populated areas where fueling stops can be over 100 miles apart. Even then many are not open 24/7.
Even in Florida there are highways crossing the state with no fueling stops where fuel management is a must.
Because when I park the car in the driveway, then go into the house, I do not want to have to have the key fob on my person to get back into the car for this or that I left in there.

2006 Toyota Avalon. 2017 Acura RDX. 2012 VW GTI for some items like MPG.
I use an app called Road Trip - it makes it easy and fun to compare cars over the years. (Sadly on some of the occations my wife took care of filling the tank... and forgot to write down the milage - so for those cars, its incomplete)

Sorry, that's incorrect. My X5 will lock as I walk away and unlock as I approach the vehicle as long as I have the fob on my person.

As does my wife's Kia Niro (and by extension, probably all Kias), if so selected in the Setup. Well, the Kia will lock once you've left. When you approach, the mirrors move out, the lights turn on (door handles, etc.) and it unlocks when opening the door handle.
