Friend just got a 2020 E63S - what's the best deal for a 10 yr/100k ext warr now?
Hello,
Helping out a friend. Who would you call to get the best deal in the US for a 10 yr, top notch 100 k warranty. He got a price of $6390 at a local dealer but he's wondering if he can do a lot better elsewhere? By the way, it's a gorgeous Polar White with black interior, carbon fiber trip and black exterior trim. Night package w/carbon fiber spoiler. Stunning.

Never heard of a ten year warranty on these cars, just a 7 year 100K mile warrantee, at least as far as what mercedes offers. Aftermarket, generally not worth it. I'm sure a lot of aftermarket companies would be glad to take his money and tell him it's a ten year warranty.

I got a Ultra Care Continental warranty that my MB dealer recommended as it covers most everything, 10/100 for my 2018 S63. It was $4890 since I had a bit of credit left from my 2012 S63 Continental warranty. It's been great on the 2008 S63 I had too. In the first 2 months of owning that car, it cover all of the $11k in repairs! The 2008 was a great car but had many issues that would have been super costly.

Of course the repair policy is the important one in that such expenses can be the big ones. US cars come with four-year warranties although it doesn't cover wear items (primarily brakes). But we don't have to worry about catastrophic failures for four years or 48,000 miles.
I also get the 7-year dealer extended warranty when I buy the car. It's the best you can get although it's not a 10-year policy.

Why are you planning to keep this car for 10 years? What’s so special about it? Have you ever owned a car over 10 years?

2020 MB E450 Estate, 2019 Kia Niro Touring
I have. A 2006 Toyota Avalon Limited. Totaled in 2017, replaced by an Acura RDX until 2020, now replaced by a MB E450 wagon. In so many ways, I wish I still had the Avalon. Never had a single repair with it other than normal maintenance, and cheap at that. We'd still have it today, if it wasn't totaled. It had many features, and things that worked so much better, than in the E450. My /intention/ was to keep the E450 forever as well, but there are so many things that annoy me, that I'm already looking for another car.

I just posting for some help if someone had a great experience with a MB dealer finance guy that sold Continental Warranties that were more discounted than my buddy was quoted last week, that's all. All the other dialogue was interesting, but not really helpful. Bottom line, I personally keep my cars for many, many years, as does my buddy. He still has his 2006 MB E55 and plans to keep it for many more years. I kept my last BMW 7 series for 13 years and my Porsche 993 C4S for 12 years. That's why he (and I) find a 100,000 mile, 10 year warranty appealing if we limit our driving to about 10K miles a year.

Im sure someone will chime in eventually. But with a 10 year warranty it’s simply so much money to dish out for so much uncertainty.
I have another lol. What if you total your car during the warranty? Insurance won’t fix it, they will only write you a check.....do you get your money back?

If I total my car, I do get a refund on my policy if I don't use it that much. Believe me, I knew what I was doing when I bought my car. I already thought of all this. My 2008 S63 cost over $11k in the first month I had it in repairs but I had this Continental warranty and it saved my a$$.

I'm sure you've already read suggestions of two people here who sell discounted MB warranties, but they're only for 7 years, 100k. Most here here, I'm told, tend to avoid non-MB warranties, which may be why you don't have many responses. I agree with your thoughts about wanting to keep cars you like as long as practical, and warranties certainly help make them practical.
