“FAKE” engine sound in E450 Wagon???

“FAKE” engine sound in E450 Wagon???
Had my new-to-me wagon up on the toll road yesterday and the car is so quiet, but there is this little HUMMM that seems timed to engine speed. Does anyone know if these cars have fake engine sounds piped into the cabin?

If you have an engine-dependent whine in the sound system, there is some interference from the ignition system. A noise suppressor missing or an improperly routed cable, for instance.

On my S212, I can hear a faint hum from my ventilated seat when it is on and there is no radio or loud road noise. Maybe that's what you are hearing?

The sound I hear is not the ventilated seats, which were off, nor the audio system, which was also off. My 2019 SL450 Has a “sound generator” or some such gizmo, which produces engine or exhaust sounds. It came from the factory like that. So, same 450 engine, I am wondering if MB is doing something similar with the wagon.

Are we 100% sure there is no fake engine sounds piped into the cabin? I swear that when in Sport+ mode (E450), when letting off the gas pedal abruptly (say when decelerating with engine braking, without touching the brakes), there is an exhaust burble (almost sounds/feels like a "clunk"). But I question whether it's real or artificial.

Theres a solenoid valve in the exhaust that in sport plus opens and you get more sound out of the exhaust and exhaust comes out of both outlets, in any other mode the exhaust only comes out of the right outlet. You do get some popping and burble in sport plus mode and that is the actual exhaust.
