Very nice upgrades!

I have a few questions:
1. What dashcam is that? Can you provide a link?
2. AMG dash looks great - and it seems alot faster than mine?(I have the standard that comes with widescreen on a 220d 2016 W213)
- would you know the difference between AMG and standard? I suspect your faster dash might come from a new OS-release(compared to what was released in 2016)

Hey Jake,

Thx!

1. for this kind of dash cam, I will suggest search "Mercedes Dash Cam" on Aliexpress, there should be some very similar to the one I have, I ordered mine directly from China, for your reference it cost me around $60 USD

2. I am assuming you are saying the AMG dash load faster? I doubt there is any update to the hardware or OS between 2016 and 2017, I will see it's more like a UI design change. Not quite sure though

You need to remove the original rear view mirror unit cover, connect the dash cam with the rain sensor and this dash cam will also act as the new mirror unit cover

You should seriously make a thread about that dashcam - installation - where to buy(exactly) and how well it performs.

The look of it is sublime, the ones I have seen that looks similar to this powers from the OBDII outlet - basically letting some chinese hardware/software connect directly to the car - that is not going to happen in my car:-)

also I thought that adding multi beam headlights would require some additional cameras?

Mine only use power connector from Rain Senor to power the Dash Cam.

No, multibeam works totally fine with single cam on the windshield

yes it loads faster, but you can also scroll on the menu that changes dashboard look on your main dashboard - on my car the only place I can scroll like that is on the centerdashboard... my menues on the main dasboard looks allt different. Plus it seems your dash has alot more color.

I got a quote for amg menu upgrade - 2495 dkk - thats about $400 - I think thats a bit steep for a software upgrade

Nice upgrades, TonyC0101. Car looks great!

I'm also very interested in more details of dash camera and its installation. I've been wanting to add one for a while but been put off by both the appearance and the wiring and this solves both of those concerns.

Rumor has it that MB will be offering dash cam recording capabilities using already present cameras in some all new models in a few years. It makes sense because the cars already have 360° cameras. All that is needed is a software update and storage.

Make sense, they are way behind Tesla. I will not purchase another car until MB adopt some of those technology. I will keep my 2017 until then because I have a P3 car with just about every option only to be outdated by the following year it 2

True, however in many cases it’s only a software update which MB could have done by the dealer. I would be even open to the idea of a fee for that, something Tesla does as no charge.

These are some of the things why there are so many loyal Tesla customers. I know MB is planning similar techniques down the road which would further make the current models more obsolete

The Tesla upgrade to 'Full Self Driving' includes new hardware (complete replacement of computers in car) which is required to use new ability of autopilot software. I think its very good value for money. Currently our 2018 M3 recognizes and responds to traffic lights and stop signs on secondary roads, but will not yet make turns when navigation is active. On the highway it will take you from on ramp to off ramp, and automatically change lanes if slower traffic is ahead. We get frequent, about 20+ a year, over the air software updates, at no cost, which add new features, and fix bugs. The self driving ability, even just lane tracking, is so much better than my 2018 E400S its sad how far behind MB is.

Interested in doing the conversion to the digital cluster. How easy was it to do this and does all the functionality work? Do you have someone who can do this?

Was that to update an existing autopilot or to upgrade/add? Those are two big differences

Hoping to figure out the dashcam installation for my car. The integration is beautiful.

I've looked on AliExpress and found a few units. It seems that most are compatible, at least ostensibly, with both W212 and W213.

Something like this or this seem to be candidates, however the installation instructions are far from clear. The first indicates to run wires to the fusebox, which TonyC0101 avoided. I would love to avoid this as well if possible. If TonyC0101 or anybody can recommend a specific unit they like and can be powered from the rain sensor that would be incredibly helpful!
