There must still be something inside. Look with a flashlight. The little tray in the back can be lifted out to see even better. I just kept finding ball pens, a small sanitizer bottle and other junk that gravitates to the back.

After watching these videos, it's apparent that removal of the console is so easy that I'm going that way and giving up trying to find out how to remove the cover only.

Where I can buy the pin?
Same thing happened to me but I cannot find the pin. Managed to open the cover but the pin is no where to be found. Contacted my dealer and they say this is not covered by the warranty. They also say they have to replace the whole thing which is costly.

Quick video to help with this.
Mine was a lanyard that got stuck and the pin flew out. Local shop here in Perth told me I needed a whole new compartment shipped from over east overnight and would cost approx $510 to supply and install and that the little clip had snapped on and couldn’t be fixed. After looked at the above pic and description from pnc it actually took me about two minutes to fix. I did a quick video and chucked in on YouTube for you all. Hope it helps!

Hi I also have the same problem but I dont have the pin although I can hear it rattleing inside the cup holder lid, any help on fixing this would be great, Ive just had a crazy quote of £240 to fix it
