How to turn off ECO on off function

Hi guys,
for my 2017 E300, I am struggling with Eco button for on off.

I know it might not be a big issue, but turning the engine on and off repeatedly for the long run will affect the stability of the engine mounts. This is what I believe and know.
Also, another issue is when it turns off it turns off the AC and with Saudi weather, turning off the AC is not desirable thing, Temp is around 45-48 C during day and 32-40 C during night.

So, how can I turn it off completely,
I though of changing my drive to individual, and turn off from there but still I didn't do it. Did anyone tried it and it works with them?

yes a lot of threads with no answer. I'll not install any outside program to it.

The only way to permanently turn off eco mode is via third party software.

In ECO mode as the AC recycles on and off the engine will automatically turn on.

Engine mounts wearing out: This is interesting as I never heard or thought about it. Can you give us your source for premature engine mount failure because of ECO mode.

Everything that would suffer premature failure because of the on/off feature has been enhanced so that will not happen.

On my Jag F-Type one can disconnect the cable to the auxiliary battery and the stop/start function ceases to operate. Mine (a CPO) has never worked, maybe because of a dead second battery, but I in any event I have no intention of fixing it.

ECO mode only works on my car in the winter when the windows are down. Otherwise the A/C prevents ECO from engaging.

Not so with mine, but I do have the E450:
  • Windows up or down ECO works: summer, fall, winter or spring
  • When AC is on, with ECO on, at a stop light engine turns off. If it is a long wait, the engine turns back on. I have my AC on "AUTO"

The A/C temperature setting makes the difference. My A/C is set to 74° F with the fan on 2. If the A/C compressor is running ECO won't engage.

If you want the ECO to function with the AC on, suggest you try the AUTO setting.

BTW, I keep my AUTO setting at 72 and the ECO functions works.

My E is the 450. Is yours the 300 and possibly with the 4 cylinder engine the ECO is disengaged with the AC on?

On my E450 wagon, ECO stops the engine most of the time once it's warmed up. What's surprising to me, is that if I park it, waiting for groceries to be delivered, with the engine running, I've NEVER had it stop. So, while driving, it stops. While parked, it doesn't. Something's wrong here. ;-)

That could be. The ambient air is usually about 90° F until November so the A/C compressor is running 100% of the time. The E300 with the acoustic comfort package maxes out with ambient temperatures minus 15° F with humidity at 70% (a typical Florida day).

A guess one the advantages of the E450: I can reduce the inside temperature to 72 without trouble (fan does not run a high speed) when outside is above 90 so that would be -20 degrees or more.

Don't really understand why as I would think the AC compressor on the E300 is the same as on the E450.

I can get a 20 degree spread if I recirculate the air or am not in stop and go 30 mph traffic (90%).

Unfortunately I don't think using individual mode will help. The best way would be to install a plug and play unit from a third party, and you can get one from Brabus.

I am trying to steer away from using this method. I am happy with the individual mode now

Understood, but FWIW I installed this item on my 2018 E400C in February 2018 and have had no issues with it since, nor has the Mercedes service department said anything about it: https://bityl.co/3TMD

There’s a sensor on your negative battery terminal. Disconnect the wire. No more eco start / stop and no engine light. I’ve done it and have the same concern as you about premature wear of the engine mounts as well as timing chain and components.

There is only 1 battery in the W213. There is a super capacitor under the right foot well.

Can you post a picture of this disconnected wire, please?

Driving a car with a disabled engine warning light is a quick way to damage an engine.

Are we certain that a sensor connected to the battery is the sole determiner whether one gets a CEL? I can't imagine that such a visual add-on in a debatably vulnerable location can be important to such a vital function. Just think of how often these batteries are changed by techs and road-side service people barely qualified to change a battery?

Meanwhile, there are countless threads on both the W212 and W213 forums to determine the source of power for ECO STOP/START, a feature that MB develops ONLY to meet European emmissions regulations... that most of us consider a nuisance at best.

Debate continues whether ECO S/S is powered from the primary battery (W213) or from the Primary or Aux battery in the W212. Information about this sensor might lead us in a definitive direction.

I find that if I put the car in sport mode the engine doesn’t stop and start. Or you could just push the eco button.
