Our E300e were stuck in port for about 3 weeks in Mars/April. Probably waiting for parts because the shortage. Vehicle delivered in Sweden.

if stuck in port, thn doubt this was because of spare parts?
i imagine the cars are being fully build in Germany for the EU market ?
however it could be lack of vessels. i work in shipping and this is a huge problem at the moment ...

We ordered our E-class in October and was told it would be built April and delivered to the main dealer early May.

Early May we got an email saying how the build was delayed owing to this micro-chip shortage.

The car arrived at the main dealership 11/06, so about a month delay.

I am reading how folks are claiming to have ordered a car and it has been delivered after just a few weeks!! Might I very respectfully suggest the dealer has acquired this car from someone's stock? Although the SUVs are I believe built in the USA so there might be shorter wait times?.

If we order a specific vehicle and tick off our options then obviously our order goes onto the build list

Following up: Ship [Garnet Ace] arrived in Brunswick on June 14/15; vehicle released to carrier on June 16. Obviously no chip delay at VPC - very happy for that! Dealer says he expects it to arrive at the dealership later today [June 19]. Concerned about all the transport/handling that the vehicle goes through before it gets into my hands. I'm a couple hours away from the dealer and don't want to return if issues are spotted after delivery - easier to resolve prior to acceptance. Any advice regarding inspection at time of delivery (i.e., known areas of concern, or areas where issues arise)?

First of all, congratulations on getting your new E Class! Here are a few areas that I would check: door and trunk alignment, paint surface and interior trim blemishes and scratches. Also check wheel rims for potential issues. Just give the car a good look-over and you should be fine. For a while, MB's E classes were shipped with misaligned doors and trunks. Including the GLE's. Hopefully, your car will be perfect. H

Before I accepted my 2018 E300 I carefully followed Mercedes own pre-delivery inspection procedure. I've attached the 2018 document. The 2021 pre-delivery inspection procedure should be similar.

Angry Canadian order delayed again…and again

I placed my order for a 2021 E350 in dec 2020. Delivery was set for April 20. Early April that was pushed to June . Now I am told pushed again with no ETA because of semiconductor supply issues … not too happy to say the least

Sorry for the delay you’re experiencing. I know it puts a crimp in the anticipation/excitement you feel when your waiting for your new car. The delay is also very strange given my experience as set out in this thread. I wonder if there is some specific chip that is holding yours up. I ordered my new 2021 E350 (in March 2021 with a projected early May build date) with a large number of Options on it (so at least a couple of micro-chips in there), and apparently there wasn’t any delay, other than a 1 week wait in Germany before it was placed in a ship. It came out of the build process in Germany on May 17; placed on a ship on May 24/25; arrived at the VPC in Brunswick, GA earlier this week, and was at the dealership in FL as of this morning. My salesman said I could pick it up today or tomorrow if I wanted. I would be annoying my dealer for more information. Hope you receive yours soon.

My salesman told me it’s been built. He claims the next information will be when it arrives in the states.

You can track the ship if the salesman provides you with the name of the ship that your car is placed on. Once you have the name, you can simply Google the ship name and there will be several websites that allow you to track it. Best of luck.

I specifically asked about the ship name. He said no.

It takes a few days after completion of the build to get the ship's name. In my case it took about a week to 10 days after completion. Actually, I didn't get it until 2 or 3 days after the ship had already left port in Bremerhaven, Germany. While I haunted the salesman for the name once he told me that the build had been completed, in fairness to him, he probably couldn't get it himself until after the ship left port. Humans are involved and it takes time to actually update the database. Keep asking. He will be able to get it for you. And, while even though you can track it, there is nothing you can do to speed it up. Nevertheless, there is some level of satisfaction (perhaps even joy) in seeing the progress that your vehicle is making on its journey to you.

.
On some RORO carriers one can search for their vehicle by VIN. IIRC Mercedes-Benz only uses one or two RORO carriers. One can also check the port (DE BRV) for departure/destination info using a site such as vesselfinder.com. Happy hunting!

Just had a chat with my dealer here in France, who informed me :

***

35 car were supposed to be delivered in June, he only got 3.
delays range from 1 to 4 months, depending on model.

On the E class there seems to be a lack of LTE modules.
If that is the only problem then the car WILL be delivered to me, and the module will be installed at a later stage.

However there are also delivery problems with some security systems,

For instance; a hybrid car will emit a sound up to 30km/h to warn people in the street, (when driving 100% electric)
if this system is not available when the car is being built, then it will not be delivered until said system is available.

apparently if the delay is over 1 month, Mercedes will arrange for loaners for their customers,
so you might want to check that with your dealer if you are in the same boat (not car!) as me.

I consider myself to be very fortunate. Only a three (3) month process, start to finish - ordered on March 24 ... delivered on June 22. Beautiful automobile (W213 - E350). Love driving it. Only issues (more annoyances than real issues) so far are: (1) engine is louder/rougher sounding than I expected, especially given that it has the acoustic package; (2) the hands-free trunk release/closure rarely works on first (kick) attempt; (3) disappointed with having to restart the Dashcam each time I start the vehicle, and (4) disappointed that the full functioning of the adaptive LED headlights is not switched on. Full disclosure - I had knowledge about # 3 and #4 above before I placed my order. Still an amazing automobile.

.
If you know the approximate departure date, you can view the departure port schedules yo find the ship's name. If you have a VIN, you can search the ship's manifest. Once you have the ship's name you can see the arrival date of the ship.

If the car is really on the water Netstar will show the vessel name
