in only a few weeks my build date jumped from 11 august, to 18 , to 23 and now 30...
So basically a build date doesn't mean much...... "lol"

Apart from any type of US industrial action, the whole World is suffering from the effects of this pandemic and I guess our having to wait an extra few weeks or even months for factories to try to produce electronic chips or even french fries.

Should we simply be grateful that we are in relatively good health and our new vehicle will arrive when it gets here?

Take care, get jabbed and wear a mask

In the Royal Navy we had a saying...'Beware of the sailor that is NOT complaining, he is the one to keep an eye on'

My car finally went into production last Friday the 3rd.

However this doesn't seem to mean much as many cars are stuck in Bremen,

I thought this was because of a lack of ships, but apparently Bremen is also a hub for Europe,
and the cars are waiting there for the missing parts before being trucked to their final destination.

some have been stuck there for months....

car came out of the factory on the 6th and has been sitting there since.
probably to wait for missing parts (whatever does parts may be).

Stil don't have a VIN so impossible to check if my car will be "complete" when it arrives .
There's a big risk that i will lose wireless charging & augmented reality...

@parkwood is taking delivery of his ECQ in France and he told me that we will no longer have: automatic parallel parking, parking with the phone and automatic lane changing when signalling.
This due to new regulations, (though not sure if only for France or for the whole of Europe )

Only the new S & C class apparently are conform with their "level 5" of autonomous driving.

E300de (2025) AMG Line in Verde Silver
For what it is worth, I ordered a new E300de hybrid in mid June 2021. Production didn't start until mid-August. It left the Sindelfingen factory on 16th September and is now being held in Hamburg due to missing parts. Report from the factory today states: “Semiconductors for door control unit are still missing and we have no information when these are available". Eventual route will be to Emden for shipping to Ireland but no one knows when this will be. Also, no indication given as to what items will be missing. I also asked my local dealer what lead times are they quoting customers who order new Mercedes cars today and he said six months at best but probably longer.

Egonvdv, have you had any update on the delivery of your car? I have been informed by my dealer today that delivery will now be January 2022 earliest (7 months after order placed).

So we decided instead to go with a 2022 E450 Convertible scheduled for July 12. However, release to dealer won't be until it is formally launched by MB supposedly late fall. The previous convertible we had (2018) was built in July and got to the dealer in August. Our current 2019 CLS450 was built in July and got to the dealer in late October! Normally, travel time from Germany to the States (East Coast) is about 20 days or so.
mine was 11 month wait. Arrived in port last night. Unknown how long till It is unloaded or sent to my state.

the car moved from the factory to another location (forgot the name) surely it's waiting for parts but dealer does not have details. (also no VIN yet)
so far it's on a 3 month delay with original delivery planned for mid july.

Automatic google translating from Dutch ( Nieuwe klap auto-industrie: magnesiumtekort dreigt wereldwijde productie lam te leggen | Auto | AD.nl )

The automotive industry is already having a hard time due to the shortage of chips and semiconductors, causing many factories to shut down.
There is now a threat of a new crisis in Europe due to a magnesium shortage.
Autoeditor/HLN 22-10-21, 05:00 Last update: 09:04 Magnesium is essential for aluminum production.
That material is needed on a large scale for building cars. It is used in gearboxes, steering columns and brakes, seat frames, at fuel tanks,
in the bodywork and for many other parts. About 85 percent of global magnesium production comes from China and much of that comes from Yulin City in Shaanxi Province.
But due to an energy crisis, production restrictions have been imposed on many factories there. Of the fifty magnesium factories, only fifteen are still active.
They also run at half power to meet the energy requirements. It will remain that way at least until the end of the year.
No alternatives Analysts warn in The Financial Times that stocks of magnesium in the rest of the world are dwindling rapidly. The German and European car industry,
almost entirely dependent on China for magnesium, threatens to get nothing in November. “There are no alternatives to aluminum production,
” said Barclays analyst Amos Fletcher. “If the supply of magnesium stops, the entire auto industry may be forced to shut down.” In that case, consumers
will have to wait even longer for their new car, while the shortage of semiconductors has already doubled or even tripled delivery times.

Tried to place the order in January.
No order slot available till end of April with scheduled July build. This order was Yellow lighted (frozen due to parts shortage)
Actual build was September.
Arrived in US part 2 days ago.
Unknown(due to lack of dock workers/truckers) when it will be unloaded or shipped to dealer.

No VIN yet. I also see dealers here taking orders for all models for January delivery but I can't see that happening!

delay now 5 months since initial delivery date given,
and almost 3 months since it came out of the factory, waiting for further parts
My dealer says that 3 months is an average time for a car to wait, though this is based on experience only and by no means exact science ...
I'm only giving the above as "info", not to complain . it is what it is!
Meantime i just drive an A class which they gave me for free - oh these 1st world problems...

You are waiting for a diesel hybrid, yes? Neither diesels nor true hybrid E-classes are offered in the US; sounds like parts issues for that configuration.

My order went in for an AT at the beginning of this month, with a build date late next month. We will see if there are any delays...
