Should I buy a Canadian model E450 ?

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to the MB world. I have been looking at a 2019 E450 wagon and there's one locally that has the options / color combo that I want. The only 'negative' is that it's been imported from Canada so it has weird Carfax and elements of the dash are in metric. Is this something that can easily be coded out or will it affect resale value and be annoying forever? haha! Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks and happy new year!

I've never seen this question before. Would this link help? http://www.m-sedan.com/instrument_cluster-4561.html

Thanks!

It's not the speedometer, but the areas shown in the photo below. And apparently the climate control values as well.

Perhaps you should call a Canadian Mercedes dealer near the border and ask if the metric units can be changed to imperial. I don't know where you are but here a couple.

I'm confused. Did you change the temperature setting in the COMAND unit from C to F, and it still shows C in the driver display? Is that what you're saying?

Unfortunately, MB only allows changing the distance units from kilometers to miles or vice versa. Temperature and pressure units require changing the region, which only the factory and the VPC can do. You'll recognize all the Canadian imports this way. There may be other systems in the car that won't work correctly, because of the region still being set to Canada. I wish I could change mine to Celsius as I was able to do in all my previous Audis for example, but after contacting MB they confirmed that the temperatures are always displayed in the region's prevailing unit of measure.

My apologies. I was mistaken. It's no consolation, but I was able to change both the distance units and temperature units in my Canadian 2004 S211. God only knows why MB no longer permits changing the temperature units anymore.

'19 MB E450
I considered a 2021 CLS Canadian import this past summer. Great price. The salesman talked up 3-1/2 years remaining on the original warranty. I called MB-USA with a bunch of questions. They stated that the original manufacturer's warranty on a Canada-delivered MB would not be valid in the USA. So, I walked away from that one.

It's less of an issue on a 2019, but given the possibility of unknown conditions and high repair costs, you need to know what you would be getting into. There's a lot more to consider here than the temperature units displayed on the instrument cluster.
