Long time reader, first time posting :-)
I picked up this car new last week and so far, things are going great.
I was offered a set of brand new 2018 S600 rims for free! (part # 2224010400 and 2224010500)
My Wagon came with 19" rims with 245/45/19 tires front and back. The new rims (same bolt pattern) are staggered size front- 245/40/20 and rear-275/35/20.
The MB dealership parts guy said "just try them on".
My biggest concern is:
-do you think the offset will fit?
-there is a slight circumference difference between front to back, will that mess with the AWD system?
-will the staggered rim size make a tracking difference?

Offset is on the back of the wheels as an ET number. You may need spacers and longer bolts. My question is why go to a staggered set up and loose the ability to rotate your tires and give up the treadwear warranty.

Thanks for the comment! I am just trying to decide if it makes any sense to utilize a set of nice free wheels.

The ride with the 19" will be harsh enough: IMO, the ride with the 20" will be rock hard and even the smallest pothole may damage both your tires and rims.

According to the wheel part numbers they are: 2224010400 - 20 X 8.5 - OFFSET 38
2224010500 - 20 X 9.5 - OFFSET 38
The wheels will fit fine in your wagon. I have a the same size wheels with 35mm offset and I like the fit (would not be able to tell the difference of 3mm from your 38 offset). No spacers or longer bolts required.
The next questions are the tires. With 4matic you want the tire diameter to be as close as possible. I read somewhere it should be within 1% (but I am not an expert).
Your tires are:
245/40/20 - 704mm in diameter
275/35/20 - 701mm in diameter
that is 0.43% difference, which has to be good. I am not sure you can get closer than that with staggered tires without going to the same size tires all around.
I like the look of the wagon much better with the 20" wheels. Yes, you need to do more smooth road surfing and avoid any potholes to minimize the chances of a disaster.

Front wheels are 8.5” wide, while the rear wheels are 9.5” wide. The width and offsets are near identical to the 20” optional wheels that come on the E450 All-Terrain, which probably accounts for the perfect fitment.

I purchased some 20” S63 wheels for our new All-Terrain wagon. The fronts are 8.5” wide and the rears are 9.5” wide, and the offset of both the front and rear wheels is 38. Tires are 255/40 in the front and 285/35 in the rear.
I installed them for test fitment and drove a couple hundred miles. They fit amazingly, give the car a much more aggressive stance/look, and I noticed no issues with rubbing or any other downsides. I personally think the wider setup is how the car should have come from the factory…
I didn’t get many pics prior to removing them for the fall/winter, but can take more in a few months if anyone is interested
