Like @Roweraay , I've always waited to shop around for an MBUSA product then decide.
After, I've always enjoyed the peace of mind I can take my car to any MBUSA dealer with their warranty, sign and drive.
@rmgrenley Not so sure if the market maker could present hassles. You might want to Google reviews of what they sold you before you talk your finance guy.
Good luck and keep us posted
Talked to the Finance Director, who has been with Mercedes for 23 years. He said he bought a wagon as well and bought the extended warranty. (Of course, I’m sure he paid much less for it!)
He said they offer these plans as they cover more with fewer exclusions than the MB plans, and that everything is handled by the Service department and I will never have to pay and then submit claims and wait for reimbursement.
He looked up the price for this car with the MB extended warranty plan of 7 years/75K and it was $5980. My plan for 8 years/80K was $6100.
if those prices are roughly correct, that is fine with me.
As for waiting until just before the MB warranty runs out, knowing me, I would forget to do it in time!
Well…we shall see how it all turns out.

MBUSA New Car Extended Limited Warranties Cost

She assured me they deal with them directly, but I want to be sure. And also that the 48 volt battery is not excluded (as I know the small battery is)…it isn’t excluded for hybrid electric vehicles, other than gradual expected loss of capacity over time, I think, but what about mild hybrids? I remember some discussion of this on these boards but can’t locate it today.

That is good information…thank you for posting.
Also, I specifically asked the Finance Director about whether the Extended Warranty covers the 48 volt battery, since batteries are excluded BUT not in the case of Hybrid Electric Vehicles, but of course this is a Mild Hybrid.
He told me that Mercedes itself warranties the battery for 8 years, apart from any extended warranty.
Anyone know if this is true?
Although it sounds a bit unusual, I don’t know if there are some regulations that require manufacturers to cover hybrid or electric vehicle batteries, and whether this would apply to “mild hybrid” high voltage batteries as well.

Nice looking ride. I have same interior coming but with Nautical blue exterior. Can't quite make out the Monrony sticker to compare with my equipment. Good luck with it. Do you know when this unit hit the port in Baltimore? Mine came in on 12/19 but my dealer hasn't had any luck tracking it down. It was on the car carrier Talisman.

Wow, that’s insanely specced. The nappa leather is already super rare and then it has every option imaginable except pano roof and night package and big wheels as you said.

2023 E450 AT wagon, and 2013 E350 coupe
In my endless search for cargo protection for my 2023 AT, I have fallen down the rabbit hole. While not being able to decide on whether to go with the Canvasback liner with their endless variety of add on flaps, I decided to at least temporarily get a cargo liner “tray” to protect the back floor. I was looking at ones that ideally did not have a lip that would interfere with and get deformed by pushing things back farther when the rear seats were down.

I soon discovered that none of my favored options, such as even simple rubberized mats without lips, were available for the 2023 or 2022 or 2021 wagons. Even Weathertech shows nothing for 2023 or 2022, but does for “2021 E class wagon”.

Do we know that there were no changes in cargo area dimension between 2021 and 2023? It makes sense, but I want to make sure.

And if anyone knows of any other mats or trays to consider, other than Weathertech or the OEM Mercedes’ tray, please let me know.

Does anyone know if the cargo area dimensions of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 All Terrains are all exactly the same?

I ask because Weathertech has a cargo tray for the 2021 AT, but does not list any for the 2022 or 2023.
And no other company seems to have any rubberized non-lipped liner available for any of these models, which would have been my preference.
Thanks.

I'm sure they're the same. Mercedes has the same part number for all years of the OEM S213 cargo mat.

rmgrenley -
I'll be buying the MB version cargo mat in person next Tuesday 1/10/23 when taking delivery of the new 2023 A/T. . Ping me your contact info and I'll be sure to forward a hi-res picture including the MB part number and actual cargo mat dimensions..
In the meantime, I'll bet ya $4 bucks these cargo mats are the same .... Cheers, M/S

2022 E450 All-Terrain
I started up my 2022 wagon today, after it sat in the garage for over 12 days. Started up like a champ, and the battery level was exactly as it was, when I parked it 12 days ago. So I can confirm that there’s zero drain on the battery.

Bottomline, that old situation about batteries draining, has been solved by Mercedes in the 2022 and later versions.

E450 All Terrain
Hello All - New member here and first time MB owner to be.

We ordered an E450 All-Terrain back in mid-October. Nautical blue / black leather; driver assistance; warmth & comfort; night package; prem package; among other options. We were originally told to expect it to be delivered in Mid-April (if not May), but got a call this week that it was on the way to the dealer (with no interim updates!).

What have people been paying for their orders? Our total build cost was $85,055 with the updated MSRP. I am a little miffed because when we ordered the car, the MSRP was $68,400 and the dealer told me that he didn't know what the new MSRP was going to be and he would tell me when he knew. I understand the updated MSRP was released at some point in the fall, but I never saw it. Finally got the final build cost yesterday with the 4% increase in MSRP and the dealer claimed we had a deal at MSRP with no markup, but its still $3k more than I expected.

Has anyone had any luck getting a discount to MSRP from their dealer? I feel like overall supply is increasing and they should be able to give me 1-2% off of MSRP, but maybe I'm being ignorant. I was pretty frustrated yesterday and basically told my dealer I might walk if he can't give me something (to which he didn't reply). Car is due her next week and I want it, but just feel annoyed that the dealer gave me no updates and is being inflexible.

Thanks for the advice!

Based on the options you have listed the the $85K sounds about right. In my experience certain models like the All-Terrain are still pretty dear. As demand continues to exceed supply discounts from MSRP are not in the cards. MB has had an increase in price across most model lines. In the present market if you really want the wagon I suggest that MSRP is a good deal. The industry pricing model has changed and the "old days" of getting 7% to 10% off MSRP are in the past. For some models Admin add ons are continuing to take place. I don't think the dealer will be disappointed if you walk. I am a very good customer at my dealer and if I ordered the wagon it would have been a three or four month wait. They really worked hard to get a current build slot from another dealer and I only had to wait six weeks but couldn't change the specs. Time was of the essence because we are doing a very beneficial deal with my G Wagon trade. Taking delivery on 1/10. Good luck with your decision.

FWIW: a month ago there was a 2023 E 450 wagon at my dealer. He wanted $5K over MSRP. I was in last week. The car is still sitting there.

While I personally think given enough time we will see discounting from MSRP - I do not think it will happen in the next 90 days.

While I know it hurts to pay MSRP the reality is that an E450 wagon specked out the way you want it at MSRP is being sold at market or slightly below. Ask the dealer to throw in the 10K and 20K service, but if you want the car be prepared to pay MSRP

JUST MY $.02!

I think that the wagons are pretty hard to come by, and successfully bargaining for a discount from MSRP seems unlikely…though I am not a wily negotiator anyway.
Here in Seattle last spring our dealer had one 2022 AT on the floor that was not the color and build we wanted, and he had only two allocated build slots for the remainder of 2022, one of which was taken. Because of their relative rarity, he said that trying to find another dealer on the West Coast to trade with was not an option, as they would require them to pay some figure above their cost…whether that was true or not. In any event, I knew what the 2022 MSRP was, and when I found out that I was getting a 2023 with my fall build I was happy, and the fact that the 2023 MSRP had gone up by about $2500 I discovered in the paperwork when my build was complete prior to its shipping. Although they did not specifically call my attention to it prior to the car’s arrival, it never occurred to me to take issue with that. Perhaps the “resale” value of getting one of the early 2023’s is in fact greater than one of the last 2022’s built?

I have heard that in many instances dealers are selling these for a significant markup over the MSRP, and in my case they tried to tack on a $2,000 “market adjustment” that I pushed back on. Nevertheless, there were enough other ways that the bill was padded, such as exterior(ceramic) and interior treatments, that were already done “always as a matter of course” without asking, passing along the B&O tax, etc.

Basically, I wanted the car, and, as I said, I am not a wily negotiator.

It sounds unusual that you put in an order for a build in mid October and are receiving the car after only 3 months. Maybe they have really stepped up the shipping! I wonder when the build date was.

I too paid MSRP for a fully spec'd AT wagon and was happy to do so in this market.

I think you are getting the car you want, with everything specced out the way you want it, but is unhappy with the MSRP that Mercedes is charging you. I assume your car does not have any dealer markup over MSRP (hidden or otherwise) and if so, I don’t see a problem in buying it. You are still getting a good deal in a seller’s market.

Thanks for the advice everyone - I am starting to come around to reality here! I was worked up when I heard the new price, but ultimately I think I understand and it's the car I want. @rmgrenley I am not a wily negotiator either, so I am always on guard buying cars thinking I'm the one getting taken!

As for the order date / build date - I was shocked to hear that it was on its way to the dealer this week. I hadn't heard anything from the dealer since we ordered it and even thought about asking if we could make some changes. As I mentioned before, I expected it to come in May. If it had come in May, I may have been in a better negotiating position.

I'll post a picture and any info I have on build date after I (hopefully) pick the car up this week.

Thanks!

Three months from order to delivery is very quick in the best of times...I would ask for a current build sheet of the incoming car to be sure it is the one you ordered. April/May delivery indicates a February/March build, which your dealer would have known at the time of order.

Cars.com shows 51 new and incoming 2023, and 22 new 2022 wagons in the US. Not a lot. Might get a break on a 2022 at this point, but doubtful for a 2023 ordered to your spec.

Really unbelievable that in January 2023 the MBUSA website still shows 2022 models and pricing. Reflects very poorly on the brand, IMO. That said, from the 2023 order guide posted here months ago, it looks like leather might be standard for 2023, somewhat justifying the price increase? Can anybody with eyes on a 2023 Monroney sticker confirm or deny?

E450 All Terrain
@Alan Smithee I agree, it feels like a quick turnaround, especially given the original expectation. I have seen the build sheet and it's what we ordered exactly - although they skipped the soft close doors, which we had ordered (although I don't really care). We are definitely paying for the leather at $1,620, but were told that the metallic paint ($750) is now included in the 2023 MSRP.

I am also really surprised and a little disappointed that the website still shows 2022 model and pricing. This was part of my frustration with the dealer - he told me in October that he didn't know what the 2023 MSRP was going to be and that as soon as he found out, he would tell me (which he never did). How can they not know that in November or December? Our build sheet is attached below:

^ Just so you're aware, unless you redacted it, that build sheet does not indicate a PO# or VIN...it is not confirmation that the car you ordered exists and is what will be showing up.

Still curious to know if MB-Tex is standard for 2023, or if leather is a 'mandatory' option. Went back and confirmed that the 2023 order guide only indicates 'leather' or 'nappa leather' interiors.
