Help! Can't Reset Service Indicator

I have the instructions for resetting the service indicator and I've done this successfully before, but I seem to be stuck this time. I can't get into the workshop menu. When I'm in the trip menu and I hold the back button for 1.5-2 seconds and then press on the navigation pad, I don't get the workshop menu with "vehicle data," "dynomometer test," "lining change mode, "ASSYST PLUS" and "head-up display." What am I doing wrong? When I start the car or put the ignition into position "2" I get a display that reads "Service A3 Due."

Those are the instructions I used. On step 5, I don't get the workshop menu. Could it be that I get a message stating that "Service A3 Due" in the nultifunction display when I switch on the ignition?

You are likely in the wrong ignition position. I always get confused. With the foot off the brake you can press the engine start once, and then another time. I don't remember which of them is actually position 1. But try first with pressing it once. If that doesn't work, press it again. At least that was my issue I had in the past, other than forgetting to select trip and total distance.

Thanks, I'll try it again with the igrition in various positions to make sure I'm in the right one. I recall a couple of years ago, it took me almost an hour but in the end, I succeded in resetting it.

When I do the reset, I close the door, hit the ignition once, but foot not on the brake ,and go to home button and go to trip.

Make sure total mileage is displayed

Hold home button for several seconds and then press scroll button - maybe twice

Vehicle data, Dynameter test, Brake pad replacement and Assyst Plus come up

Scroll down to Assyst Plus

Switch on ignition to activate

Scroll back to Service data, full service and scroll down to Full Service

Confirm full service

Grade Oil 229.5

Yes

Confirm

you are now reset

Hope this helps

I don't know how I did it but it worked! I think the key is when you're in the trip menu and hit the back button (step 5 in Konigstiger's post) to very quickly press the center button on the navigation pad. That gets you into the workshop menu. If you're not in the workshop menu, start all over again. It's not easy, and it's likely to take several tries. Many thanks to those who responded to my post.

Yep, that's the trick. I didn't post earlier, because I don't have a W213, and assumed the navigation pad would be different. But on my W212, that's how it works, (using the "Answer Phone" button on the wheel instead). Less than a second does it for me.
