Coding question for activating blue welcome lights.

For anyone that’s knows coding for Mercedes, I’m wondering if anyone knows or has been successful on activating the Blue Welcome Lights on a W213 with the multibeam headlights. I’ve seen videos on YouTube seeing a W213 headlight do it so I guess it should be able to be done.
For anyone that does not know, it’s basically where the DRL stripes light up blue, then fade to white after a few seconds. It’s not a huge deal, but I thought it looked really cool. My buddy knows how to do some Mercedes coding so I’m looking into it so we can hopefully activate the feature on my U.S. spec 2019 E63S with multibeam. Seems to be a thing on some European spec Mercedes and possible Japanese.

Thanks for any input.

You just swap the module, no coding necessary. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...light-mod.html

That said, the link is for the W205 C-Class so it might not fully apply to the W213 E-Class. ie. you will very least need a module for the W213, not the W205.

We can of course do this but it will end your DLR's light stripes life earlier

So this factory feature (in some markets) causes the DRL’s to fail somewhat prematurely?

That’s interesting as the blue only goes on for a few seconds then fades to white. I’d still be interested/curious on having that coded. Pretty cool effect I think.

It is actually on every market's MB other than North America.

Really curious how much of lifespan does it really decrease.

cool, so you think the US market vehicles have the capability but just need it coded? For some reason RJautomotive is telling me US vehicles don’t have the hardware which seems strange. You’d think it’s all the same.

Correct, just needs to be coded or you can swap the control module. North American (yes Canada too) MBs don't have it might have to do with some regulations, like idk perhaps lights can't be blue like emergency vehicles?

OK, thanks for the information. I have a friend that can do coding, do you happen to have any information on the coding process for the blue welcome lights? If not, what can you tell me about this control module, where is that located?

If it is the same location as the W205 C-Class then this video might help you locate it.
As for how it looks like: https://a.co/d/6jo6Osi (don't get this exact one as it is for the W205 C-Class, not for your W213 E-Class), this link is just an example of what module you need.

thanks for the info. I definitely would not be interested in doing any sort of module swap, really just interested in it If it’s something that can be activated via the coding. I don’t really want it that bad to go messing with the LED boards and stuff.

You're welcome and fair enough.
