E450 4matic vibration

Hi there.

so I have been having issues with my Mercedes, E450 2019. The issue starts when I come to a full stop in a traffic light with my foot on the break the car starts to vibrate and shakes. When I put the car in neutral, the vibration seems to disappear. I automatically assumed it’s the engine and gear mount so I have them both replaced. The issue seem to disappear for about a week, but then it returns again. I replaced the engine mount again but this time I personally did the replacement and I noticed when I removed the old engine mount the top cap is moving it’s not stationary as it should be or as it was when I first bought it from the dealer. Again, about a week later, the issue returned vibration when the car is at a full stop with the brakes on. The car would also vibrate even when it’s on neutral, and there’s a loud growl when the car starts. So I replaced the engine mount again, and the issue returned again. And all the times I replaced, the engine mounts. The top cap of the mount seemed to be loose. One interim solution that I found to work is to put the car and drive every morning and rev the engine to RPM 1300 to 1500 before I drive the car and that seemed to resolve the issue temporarily but not permanently. Any suggestion to what could be the root cause for the engine mount to fail prematurely? I would really appreciate your health if anybody had a similar issue.

Wait... so you replaced the mounts 3 times? Have you looked into other things if a first or even second (now third) replacement didn't solve the issue?

hey! To me it always felt as it’s the engine mounts. And every time I removed them the top cap of the mount where the engine screw goes in was loose. So I assumed it was getting broken every time. Then I red a lot of threads about the axels! So that’s what I’m gonna change next.

It’s a second hand car. The left axel is 205 for C43 and the right one is 213 for E class and it was torn when I got it the car and I had it fixed. So I guess by replacing them with OEM axels would fix this issue. They are quite expensive though in this part of the world. 3900 USD

Hmmm, so the previous owner went to the scrap yard and see what they can remove and install in the car? Or what exactly happened, I guess you were aware of the different axles. That begs the question, was the car damaged in anyway leading to them replacing it in the first place?

Don’t know what was going in the previous owners head. I found out about the axels when I replaced the mounts the first time but the mechanic said it’s not the cause of the issue.

Yikes, what is the history with this vehicle? Hopefully no accidents right?

Chances are, what ever inappropriate repairs the previous owner did is the cause of the engine vibration. Cars with different suspension parts that dont fit usually have vibration issues.
