2019 E450 P06DA with CEL
newish E450 wagon owner here. Purchased used with about 60k miles on it. Just getting to 70k now. One owner car, in great shape.
We were driving the car the other day and the CEL popped on. I ran it through my scanner and the P06DA code came up. I’ve done extensive reading on this and it’s clearly related to either the oil pressure solenoid itself, or the wiring loom.
In most of the reading I’ve done, everyone seems to indicate this will not cause a cel. Well, the only code that my Autel MD808 comes back with (even after clearing) is P06DA control circuit open
My question to any techs out there: is it possible that the solenoid is stuck in the LOW pressure circuit? Is there a way to test for this (I realize there aren’t oil pressure sensors on these cars) Has anyone here actually had this happen to them? Has anyone replaced the solenoid themselves?
If this is the case I’m going to have the car towed to my local Indy to have the solenoid replaced (I will likely unplug it to keep the circuit on normal pressure, but if it’s faulty/stuck in low pressure it needs replaced asap before causing damage).
thanks everyone

1. You can manually check your oil pressure using a pressure gauge and connecting it to the oil pressure test port located near the oil filter. (Search for how to do that. There is a procedure in WIS.)
2. Since the low pressure mode is at engine speed of less than 3500 rpm, if you need to take the car to a shop for further diagnostics and repair, don't drive above 3500 rpm. That is pretty easy to do. Keep the transmission in E/C mode.
3. Model years 2019 and newer will throw a CEL. Older cars will not, unless there is a more serious problem. In either case, DTC P06DA00 alone is not a cause for panic (or even the very expensive repair).

I really hate newer cars!
EDIT: Looking at the TIPS document again, it does imply that the P06DA00 is not a serious fault.

Did you appeal this after the work was done, or while it was being done? Thanks in advance.
