Wondering how long my Turbo will last on my 2017 E300 2.0 (w213)
I remember I had a 1987 Saab 900 with 200k miles and the turbo was still going strong!
Saab made great turbos! :-)
1. Your "buddy" enabling Mirror link from engineering mode without any 3rd party hardware
2. You buying your E Class in Germany then sending it over to the USA (where the program includes shipping costs and destination fees, but for some reason you still had to pay for shipping?).
3. You living in Germany for 20 years and seeing 60% gasoline mercedes vs 40% diesel (not sure who in the world would believe that but okay).
4. You knowing a guy that works in the Stuttgart plant in Germany that makes the Mercedes E Class that you all of a sudden know.
5. Your mom/her friend having a 2.0 Gasoline engine mercedes that has driven over 300,000 miles without a single engine issue other than a door hinge (the one is my favorite).
I'll continue this list. I think it should be fun.
- It can be done without 3rd party or any hardware. Google it and watch the videos.
- Mercedes does NOT pay for shipping to the USA unless the car is purchased in the US with EU delivery program. If a MB is purchased in Germany one has to arrange their own shipping. BTDT.
- Excluding commercial vehicles in 2021 German car sales were: gasoline 37.1%, hybrid 28.8%, EV 13.6% and diesel 20.0%. Many other stats are available from www.statista.com at a cost.
- If Massimo Here lived in Stuttgart for a number of years, he may certainly know someone who works in the Stuttgart plant.
Billysismyname certainly has no way of knowing. - I personally had a '72 MB 230 that I drove for 5 years and 200K miles. I replaced many things - glass, battery, tires, brakes/rotors, tune up items and shocks - but the head was never removed.
- My '18 E300 had the driver's door hinges replaced at the first service.

I just had to tell him, lets agree to disagree! I have better things to do!
Billysismyname - 99.9% Mercedes are diesel in Germany, LOL!!!!!!!!
I don't even think he truly got this...Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience

according to Billysismyname
* I can think of 4 friends off the top of my head that drive w213 in Germany, and all have gas engines!
Billysismyname, lets educate you some, can you read charts!?

2. Mercedes DOES pay for shipping and waives the destination fee if you go through their program which I believe is now no longer available as of 2020/2021. Massimo stated that he did not have to change anything over like his headlights, taillights, dashboard etc. So he definitely went through the MB program. Again, probably lying because he said he only had to pay for shipping.
3. There are gasoline cars in Germany. I know more people who drive Gas Porsches, AMG's, S line Audi's etc than people who drive diesels. I was talking about the W213 E Class drivers that are almost all diesels. You won't find many gas powered W213 E Classes there unless they are AMG (I was just in Europe for 5 months. Didn't see one Gas powered E Class in the entire country).
4. I don't know. And I would believe him, IF he didn't sound like he makes sh*it up as he goes. If you look through his posts he always has someone he knows or his moms friend who does this that that etc. Just like the mirror link friend that 100% had to use Xentry to get that to work.
5. I had a 2000 E320 wagon as a first car that went up to half a million miles. Back when engines were robust and could handle such milage. I was solely talking about the 2.0L M274 Engine that he said has 300,000 miles without a single engine problem. I could bet my left kidney that isn't true. First thing is first, the PCV crankcase ventalation valve 10000% breaks on every M274 engine within the first 100,000-150,000 miles. So that's 100% a lie.
6. That's a great story.
If if never step on it hard doesn't that mean it will spin less or not as fast making it last longer, and I never drive it past 70 MPH.
Love if I never changed this turbo and it last me for 300k miles!
Miss my 2012 E350 (w212) with 302 Horse power and no turbo.
Not sure why Benz went with this small turbo engine. Less horse power and not that much better on gas!

ps if i knew how to post pictures i would post a picture of the bottle i have

I was talking to several service advisors from different dealerships, I have a 2018 C300 with the M274 and my car has been phenomenal. No issues whatsoever and I just hit 75K..
The shop foreman discuss the issue with me showed me several pictures of different M274 engines that were taken apart. And every time a customer would come in with the piston crack issue they would ask the customer if they are using 87 gas low-grade and they wouldn’t admit it. But upon there was so much deposit buildup from bad quality..
He said that everyone with the piston issue has been using low quality gas putting regular instead instead of premium. He said he often saw with people that traveled from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and they would fill up with regular gas…
Again have to ask yourself, why mostly only in the USA!?! (Bad gas!) and even using 91 octane at places like Walmart is like using 87 octane, don't go to cheap gas stations, always look for chevron or shell on that level.
Germany's w213 gas engines are not seeing this piston problem! why? answer above :-)

"Yes, 98 octane gas is available in Germany, and it's called "Super Plus E5". It's available at most gas stations, and is offered by major suppliers like Shell and Aral. Shell V-Power and Aral Ultimate are two examples of 100 RON gasoline that are also available at almost every fuel station."
Since you seem to know it all (like you accused Massimo of) I won't explain the different calculation for octane rating between the EU and US. Let's keep it simple and say that EU 98 = US 93.

Billyismyname should change his name to, Billyisamoron , pure nutjob!
We are all still laughing on how he is going to tell me how I should have paid for my Benz in Germany, and what should have taken place! LMAO!

I4 owners fill with bad/cheap gas, but the V6/V8 owners use premium ONLY? Really , I4 owners go to Walmart, but the V6/V8 do not.
.Sometimes you have to analyze the data yourself, and not let someone else do it for you.
Could you give us all a list of names, thanks! :-)
This shows you that the engines are being made in Germany and yes in the USA at one time, not any longer and haven't in a long time!
and....
NOT to mention your moron statement of 99.9% of all Mercedes w213 are diesel in Germany!! I lived there for 20 years and I know that is wrong also! LMAO!
My e300 was made in Germany and so was the engine, confirmed! :-)
..Now where the radio was source from and other things, IDK, maybe Mitsubishi , my w212 radio was made there.
