Exclamation Dipstick down halfway

Is this a known issue on a 2021 E450?

I don't see any oil on the garage floor.

Over how many miles? All engines burn some oil as they run. Some more than others. Most manufacturers consider burning 1 qt of oil over 1000 miles is normal. 1 qt is what the dipstick shows between min and max, so if it shows half way, then you are down 0.5 qt. So the question is how many miles has it been since you saw the level at max? If it's been more than 500 miles, then nobody will do anything about it. If it's been less than your engine may have an internal oil leak such as faulty head gasket for example causing oil to find its way into the combustion chamber more than is normal and burn off. If a lot of it burns off then you'll see blue smoke coming out of your exhaust.

Am I missing something but the 2021 E 450 has a M256 and M256 doesn't have a dipstick though?

I was just assuming they meant the electronic "dipstick".

That cannot be correct and certainly is not for my car!

I change my oil every 10K miles. If I lost a quart every 1K miles, at 10K I would be empty.

Even when I was driving back in the late 50's and early 60's with oil change every 2,500 miles, I did not burn two quarts of oil between changes.

In today's modern cars, if you lose a quart of oil every 1K miles, you have either a leak or an engine problem.

Not necessarily. read the manual - 1 quart over 1000-1500 miles can be normal with these engines, particularly early in the engines life

I'm just telling you what the car manufacturers consider normal. I've been through this with other brands, especially Audi. Their engines are known to burn oil and they hide behind the 1k miles excuse. Whether you think it's normal or not, is an entirely different story. As said above, it is even mentioned in the owner's manual to cut down on complaints. The dealership can just point to that and send you on your way. BTW, you are supposed to top off the oil if you are 1 qt low and not keep driving until you are completely out of oil...haha. That's when the low oil warning will come up in the dash and tell you to top off. Back to my experience with Audi, they offered free top off to appease customers getting annoyed with it. I had a supply of oil in my garage to top off between oil changes, because it wasn't worth driving 30-45 minutes to the dealership for a free top off. FWIW, my AMG doesn't burn any oil now. No top off required and I no longer need to stock oil in my garage. But that's the M177 hand built AMG V8 engine. Past AMG engines burned oil, too.

Apparently certain engine oils also have the tendency of being burned, for example I had oil burning issues on Mobil1 0W-40 (very slight but still) vs Motul 5W-40 (no burning whatsoever not a single drop).

ALL 0.5W40 NOT CREATED EQUAL....

Thin oil gets burnt by pistons and VAPORIZED easily when exposed to extreme heat.

MOTUL premium base oil has a higher smoke point to retain viscosity longer.

I see, that explains it well.
