*^%#% Front End

My wife is a careful driver. . . . but damnit her 2020 front end is lower than her old 2010 E350’s front end.

As a result she has pulled into parking spots and damaged her valence as she pulls out of the stall, separating the bumper cover requiring body work. The lower part of the bumper does not clear the cement parking stops and whammo!

Here is the question. . . is it easily possible to raise the front end up about an inch?

Different tires? Currently I have run flats on them. Would Tires with a larger sidewall mess up the odometer?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Do not know about whether you can raise the front end.

But I do know that changing the tire will not raise the car: The overall diameter of the 18", 19" and 20" tires are the same. As you go from 18" to 19", the sidewall decrease by 1/2 inch: the radius of 18" wheel is 9 inches, the radius of the 19" inch tire is 9 1/2, so the sidewall is 1/2 inch smaller. This is why all things being equal an 18" tire with a 1/2 larger sidewall will always ride smoother than than a 19" tire..

To increase the height by one inch you would have to go from a 18' wheel to 19" inch wheel with the same sidewall: The wheel being bigger with throw off your speedometer and might adversely affect your AWD assuming that the larger wheel with the same sidewall will fit.

There is one thing you can do: make sure your tires are properly inflated. going from 28 psi to 35 psi will raise the car: how much I really do not know.

Hope this helps

Thanks pal . . . I suspected/feared I couldn’t just buy new tires. Perhaps adding some air will help. I’m sure I can’t be the only one who is having this problem.

Unless your tires are seriously low, I doubt adding air will make enough of difference. Worth a shot, but I wouldn't over inflate them just for a few millimeters of extra height. Does your car have parking sensors and cameras? I always use those if parking with any potential obstacles I could hit.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything but why not show wife how to use front camera system and to stop earlier before the scrape happens?

if you have Airmatic I think they have a raise car setting?

I was thinking the same, but decided to not go there in my prior post. If the OP has AIRMATIC then raising the car is an option but requires more effort than just turning on the forward camera and avoid the park stop or curb. Both options requires the driver to have situational awareness which that alone should prevent the issue.

Front Camera

Get a camera, manually turned on for the front end and I think would be a lot cheaper, wife just need to remember to turn it on, and after awhile she will remember the distance and not need the cam

I have a 2020 E450 Coupe, and it has a lower clearance than my 2001 911!

This has happened to me twice, and each time I had to purchase special MB fender mounting clips that broke off. I was never able to perfectly align the fenders, which has been driving me crazy for months!

As I don't have a front camera nor any parking aids, my most economical work around has been to back the car into parking spaces, especially the ones that have concrete tire stops. It a bit of an adjustment, but it has taken care of the problem.

w210 AMG or S213
my 360 camera comes on when I get close to those parking stops.

Question does the W213 have spring pads? My W210 and other models have them and you can get them in different sizes to raise / lower the height of the car.
