Loud bang/thump when going into reverse from park?

Loud bang/thump when going into reverse from park?
2018 E53 AMG Wagon,
Hey guys,
My wagon every so often will make a bang thumping noise when moving from park to reverse, even on a flat surface, the engine is warm so the idle is normal.
It's like an older car when its stone cold and you quickly start and engage reverse and the idle is high, so it bangs into gear,
This is what it's like, it's as if I am holding my foot on the throttle and making the gearbox crash into reverse?
Has anyone else experienced this, maybe it's a worn bush or mount?
Car has 85,000 miles (141,000 klm) on it.

Yes. 2022 e450 does this. It doesn’t happen when you switch from park to reverse. It happens once you start reversing. I think the parking brakes are getting stuck and when I start to reverse the sound is them disengaging. I’m taking mine in for this issue tomorrow along with countless other issues

Thanks for the info guys, the sticking brakes makes sense, yesterday I replaced the rear rotors ($540 a pair!!!) plus Power Stop Ceramic pads and gave the calipers a clean so hoping that cures the issue,

Typically happens, or most notable, when temp dips into cold... depending on your region. Mine happens at temps below 37F, and worse if parked outdoors in the cold. According to MB, this is "normal"... so I am just living with it. Other than this "issue", mine at 45K miles has been trouble-free... knock-on-wood.

I also may have the same issue. Have a "new" 2023 E350 4-Matic w/8900 miles. It is in garage overnight. When I initially start up and shift from P to R, there is a very noticeable knock or thump. What I have noticed is that if I wait perhaps a minute or two after starting the vehicle this does not seem to happen.
