Throttle tuning my w213

one of my few complaints of my W213 is the unbelievably de-tuned throttle body. it's practically dangerous in comfort mode. it feels like the car sits there and waits for a few seconds before it decides to respond to your gas pedal. then, on the other end of the spectrum, in race+, it's a little obnoxious for around town driving.

racechip has a throttle body tuner known as the xlr5. it allows you to tune your throttle by changing the electronic output of your gas pedal and allows you to create a much more customized throttle response than the 3 options available with dynamic select.

i'm curious if anyone's tried this product and really interested in learning how dynamic select works in conjunction with an aftermarket throttle tuner.

here's a link to the xlr5: https://www.racechip.us/pedal-box/xlr.html

DISABLE ENGINE LAG...

Save your money fix the root cause. The throttle lag is caused by poor fuel map caused by poor engine oil pressure gayed with a solenoid.

Take care of the engine for the throttle to bevome pressure sensitive. Zero firmware patch needed, simply oil.

not sure about that. there's no throttle lag in sport+ mode. it also gets better when i reset the throttle body (turn car to accessory, step on gas for 10 seconds, turn off, wait 3 minutes).

There are many positive ways of improving engine response.
Dealing with throttle is short sighted but fun. You can just use a scanner to reshape fav. profiles.

That simply tells the TCU you are a spirited driver especially if you hit kick down for 10 seconds hence why the response is quicker.

not sure what you mean. there's no kick down when the car isn't running. i was talking about resetting the car's learned behavior. as you drive, the car learns your driving style and responds accordingly. turning the car's ignition to accessory and holding the pedal to the floor for 10 seconds resets this to factory.

Sorry for the confusion, I am talking about the kickdown switch underneath the gas pedal, you push it to the bottom if you push it beyond resistance, there is a click.

Pulled the trigger on the racechip XLR5. Zero regrets. Really smooths out the acceleration curve and makes the throttle a lot more responsive.

Can't recommend the race chip GTS and xlr5 enough. $700 - $1,000 (depending on what sale you catch) total for both really wake the car up, are easy to install and uninstall and safe.

I had a Piecha throttle booster on my SLK, and it was great. 7 years later it crapped out and one day my car literally stopped in the middle of the road… no throttle. Had to remove the booster, problem solved. Not going back… these gadgets work OK and then over long time if you get lucky they don’t infect and have lasting damage to your car.

buyer beware is all I’ll say. Been there done that…
